    Hey alls,

I just had a wet dream and O. To my best recollection, this is the first wet dream I've had in over a decade. I'm in my late 20s.

Have I undone my NoFap challenge progress? This is also the longest streak of no PMOing since I first started watching more, some 26 years ago.

    Thanks,

    In Charge

No. Your streak is still intact. Wet dreams are normal and natural parts of life, especially for males who lack other release (which is why you had this one). They are beyond your conscious control, and neither do they happen because of some though you might have had while awake. So, relax and don't beat yourself up over them.

You haven't undone your progress, but beware of a potential chaser effect (I've been there).

Were you conscious during your wet dream? Were you faced with the decision between having and not having a wet dream? Why would something one has absolutely no control over compromise a wonderful NoFap streak?

  6. No it is awesome!! Wet dreams are a way for your body to get rid of things it dont need! lol pardon my grammar.
Wet dreams are natural and you have no control over it. they are a sign that you are hitting a progress stage and on your way to recovery!

Keep it up bro and congratulations!!

Thank you all for replying. After reading up a bit more about it, I understand that a Wet Dream shouldn't be considered a Reset.

    @WhoStoleMySock

It did. Not sure what to say. Feelings of shame and guilt and disappointment were quick to follow. I feel every time I fap, I let everyone on this site down: the veterans who've been through it all and keep coming back to encourages the newbies; the new guys who're looking for hope and inspiration in every word, post and video. Reading about failures surely can't help.

Anyways, up and at it again.

[This reply is meant as a loving slap in the back of the head. Now, listen to this:]

It's not a "failure." It's a relapse. Relapses are part of the process for the vast majority of us. Learn from them and keep going.

Any ejaculation produces a flood of the hormone prolactin, which is the antidote to the pleasure hormone dopamine. Prolactin is the reason that erections and libido disappear so quickly, the reason that many of us feel sleepy afterward, and the reason for the refractory period. Polactin is a depressant. When you haven't ejaculated in a while, you likely produce more of it when you do. For many men, especially those who are more sensitive to prolactin than others, it can cause extraordinary depression. That explains why your "feelings of shame and guilt and disappointment were quick to follow." These feelings are as much hormonally based as were the feelings of arousal and pleasure that you felt a bit earlier. Once you understand this, I hope that you can stop beating yourself up and feeling that you let "everyone" down. No, you didn't! We're all still doing whatever we're doing, because we have our own hormones. What you did was experience a relapse. Figure out what triggers caused it, learn from your mistakes, and be better prepared to deal the next time the same triggers arise. If your naturally innocent wet dream had a temporary "chaser effect" (set you up to relapse because it got you back into thinking about release, etc.), then you can keep yourself very occupied with other activities in the aftermath of your future ones, so that you won't give in long enough for the effect to pass. You can expect the chaser effect and be prepared for it. If you can do that, then you will have benefited from this relapse.

Fapping is instant gratification. Fapstinence is not. No male was born a successful fapstronaut. Its a process of achievement. Relapses are not an essential part of the process, but they are common and expected. If you keep going, you will gain strength from them to use against them. Then, one of these days, it will be one of your relapses that will turn out to be the last time you fap for whatever duration you have set as your goal--whether it be 90 days, six month, a year, or even forever.

  12. Yep, as did my last relapse. I agree, (I'm not sure how old you are) but focus on the people you like/love (crush/girlfriend/wife) and think of how much you're letting THEM down. Porn and masturbation contributes to ED and PE and think how much you wouldn't want that to happen with you and your partner. That's what got me through the 35 days before I relapsed.

    Anyway, we go again.

Seriously, stop focusing on the physical aspects of your reboot. They are beyond your control and will not have a long term effect on your progress. Focus on staying aware of your goals, and on building the necessary motivation to move further in your life. You should not run away from addiction. You should move towards a healthy life, and the loss of addiction is simply a by-product.

    DS.

Not sure exactly what Im doing different from you all but Ive never had a WD and Ive been on Hardmode over 6 months.

  15. Wet dreams are a natural way the body "releases" when you don't do it manually. It kinda depends on individuals and it may or may not be frequent. I only had it once during my previous 90 day challenge (successful).

No you did not undo your progress. You may wake up with extra urges and temptations (Chaser Effect), you may feel dirty and bad (expected), but the only time you'd undo your progress is when you go ahead and PMO again.

Don't touch yourself, move on! Good luck man.

@mv8652 thanks for the encouraging words. I actually hadn't heard of the hormone prolactin. That's useful information.

@ds112358 yes, I hear you. After my second last relapse, I (tried) changing my mindset. I'm trying to NOT make it about fapstinence, but about achieving my dreams and goals. It's a very different mindset, one that I have to get used to.

Thanks everyone for the replies and support.

Some males have wet dreams despite regular ejaculation while awake, and some of us never have them despite extended abstinence. We're all wired differently as part of individual variation. I've only had two possible wet dreams ever, both in my teens. In each, I dreamed that I was fapping. For that reason, I don't know whether I actually fapped in my sleep, or whether they were spontaneous without manual stimulation.

Thats funny! The first couple months I had several violent sexual dreams and a couple times I dreamed I was fapping. When I woke up, I was upset because I thought I failed...but soon after realized it was just a dream. Can NOT trust your brain when you quit PMO! Haha

Dude @Diesel74 I've had the same thing!! I'm on day 15 now (of 84), and did the first 2 weeks on hard mode. On the 12th day I had like 7, unbelievably explicit, back-to-back sex dreams. Each time I'd wake up because I got too excited, fought the urge to MO, and went back asleep. It was super difficult not to MO, and I was worried that would be a nightly thing but it hasn't been thus far so all good! So crazy though.

It's like your brain is punishing you for not getting something it knows you can get and wants to reward you appropriately, but that you know isn't real so you're like "back off brain" but it punishes you / tries to make up for the trend change in other ways. Weird shit indeed.

My 190 day streak came to end yesterday because of a swollen prostate...and because I have NOT had any wet dreams. Prostate had swollen to the point it was interfering with urination, and defication. And it was really starting to hurt so I MOed. The fluid that came out was rancid but...thankfully, I dont think it was infected. My new stance is wet dream are nessecary in abstinence.
