    Hi. Guys.
I am on nofap over two years. On my longest streak, definitely over 600 days. Lost count.
Anyway, I tested my blood last week and I went to see a doctor today to get a result.
Doctor told me I have low testosterone.

    Below the normal range!
She also said I have a little elevated prolactin. she referred me to another specialist.
I asked her what the normal range for testosterone was and she "googled" it.
Funny thing is, I couldn't trust her entirely so I got my test result printed and checked it myself.
The lab did mention they ran the test on prolactin twice(meaning it was abnormal I guess) and indeed, prolactin level was elevated.
According to it 7.8~19.6ng/ml was normal range. Mine was 36.7 ng/ml.
But it mentioned nothing about testosterone.
Not only that, I checked the normal range for blood test this hospital uses, and my testosterone was within normal range!
8.13 ng/ml. According to it highest range was 8.7. Lowest was 2.79.
So according to it, my testosterone level is on the higher side.
Could she have screwed it up?
I mean, she googled it for god sake!
I want to check it again right now,but I can't for now since it is saturday and they are closed except for ER.
This doctor is family medicine doctor, about 29 years old I think. She is not a specialist on this matter so some fuckups can be excused but reading lab result this wrong?
    Hmm...
I have an appointment with specialist next tuesday. I am really really worried tho.
What if this hispital had another normal range that doesn't officially use?

    What if she is right?

Guys. Looks like I have the answer. She told me the lowest level was 8.6 something.
I looked it up and in "nmol" measurement, 8
    6 is the lowest normal.
So I think she screwed up.

Always, always, always take the "ranges" with a grain of salt. What's normal for YOU may have nothing to do with other ranges. I can't even begin to tell you how misleading "normal ranges" can be.

My general practitioner says I have high cholesterol and should take a statin drug. I went to a lipidologist who specializes in cholesterol.....She said my ratios are tremendous and at NO risk for coronary disease.

    Go figure.

All of this makes no sense. If you have high prolactin...then the confluence should be that you have low testosterone. But your testosterone levels are amazing...so the high prolactin levels makes absolutely no sense.

I would ask for a retest...or find yourself another doctor which uses a different lab.

  5. I know some guy who is like 8-9 years in. He said he plays some occasional sport. Tested his blood and ended up healthier than a new born baby. It surely takes time man :) Count the years not the months.

PS: also about testosterone, I'm in a testosterone therapy group on fb and I've been keeping an eye on it.
Doctors are ABSOLUTE garbage according to these dudes. The average testosterone is way way too low Usually. You Absolutely need to see a dedicated pro that has worked with others on this for a while, because your family doctor is going to mess it up.

Also before you up testosterone, you need to commit to a genuine consumption form, not cheap amazon pills or creams, etc. AND you need to max everything else up or it will mess you up. So diet, sleep, workout, find the ideal and maintain it to the letter. THAN you get artificial testosterone in based on whatever levels those get you.

Lastly, the range truly are variable. There will be outlier people whos bodies are designed to function on a testerone level that is lower or more than the 'normal' ranges. So immediately those things are just marketing, or guess-it-right tools for doctors that don't know how to approach the subject!

Thank you for replying. I consulted with doctor. The normal range that hospital uses is between 2.67~ 10.12. "Average" result was 5.31. Mine was 8.13. So it is on the higher side. Also, on prolactin. I think it wss caused by drug. Actually, that is why I took the test. Ever since I took pantogar(hair loss drug which contains beer yeast) my left breast felt weird. My left nipple got larger. It turns out beer yeast contains phytoestrogen. I've bern taking that for five month. So I think that elevated my estrogen and prolactin level. I ve been off it for about 70 days and it has gotten a little better.

Thank you for detailed reply!! I am not taking any artificial trstosterone booster. I think nofap truly does make your testosterone go up. And it turned out that doctor did screw it up. Normal range that hospital uses ranges betwern 2.67~10.12. Average result is 5.31 and mine is 8.12.

Thank you! I am a skeptical guy. Haha. That is why I didn't trust doctor and even checked the result myself. And that doctor was wrong!!! I met another guy and even he screwed up at first. He just read previous doctors note and said my testosterone level was low. So I asked him if he even bothered to check the measurement. After reading it again he said previous doctor read the measurement wrong. He apologized for that. So I asked him what the normal range was. Even after all that , he too googled the normal result. So I told him to check with his hospital's lab. Not google. He asked me to wait outside while he gets that from the lab and so I did. After a while I could get the official range.
