Recently, I've noticed something about myself. I've been doing something that I never used to do before, sure I've dabbled here and there but it was never something I did more than 10 times a year.

    What is this thing?

    Smoking weed.

    Yep.

I've started smoking weed a decent amount lately, this week I've lit up about 3 times and the week before about 4 times. It's not out of control and I know I can control it, just as I've done with my other brief addictions that I've had.

What I find interesting about my increased use, is the reasons behind the increase.

I was laying in bed, thinking about why I've been smoking more lately. I look over at my wall and I see some of the art drawings that I have done hung up, they're mainly just sketches, not polished pieces so there's sometimes random writing on them.

I read some of the writing and what does it say?

    "Smoke"

    "Smoke weed everyday"

    "Smoke weed."

For some reason, I just find it funny to write Smoke Weed, it's sort of an inside joke my friends had in high school and it stuck. Once I read the words though I instantly made the connection. The reason I have been smoking more is because I've been subliminally telling myself too!

I've literally been programming my brain to smoke more.

    Crazy.

Which makes me think just how powerful our thoughts are when you write them down and it makes me think, can this be applied to other things? What if in my doodles, I wrote stuff like "I'm going to be wealthy" "I am a great artist." then will the same thing work, will I be subliminally re-programming my brain to think differently?

Have I stumbled upon a "life hack" to success?

I'm not sure. But I find it interesting how a harmless phrase like Smoke Weed, doodled on paper ends up manifesting itself in my actual life. Even though there was no intention or interest to smoke more.

It might be worth trying, if you have a tendency to doodle. Doodle positive words
write "Girls love me." "I am a masculine man." "I love my life." etc. Or even if you don't have a tendency to doodle, write positive phrases on stuff.

Say you're on the phone, and you're not fully engaged in the conversation so you start writing random stuff on a piece of paper. Instead of writing random words, write positive ones like the ones I listed above.

    Give it a try.

agreed. the more something is around you the more input is being sent to your brain. i can see the logic.

thing is discipline beats all of this input. your prefrontal cortex is what makes all your decisions, if you let your desires control you, that part of the brain will only weaken.

i smoke and drink too but it's never got the better of me. ever.

porn is a different story but i've fought back and now on a 17 day streak hard mode :p

It's a fascinating history, how our subconscious works. Having reading several books about the power of the mind and how to be successful, all of them have written the same pattern about our mind. Belives > Thoughts > Actions. In your case maybe you change the belive to smoke weed in an unconscious way. I begin to read about the law of attraction techniques, people where use their belives to attract things. Indeed we can

I think the reason you are smoking more is because you have nothing better to do because of covid
