I want to know your experience. How much last a urge or a craving?
I read some books and I saw that a urge or a craving last maximum 10-15 minutes.
    Please share your experience.
    Thanks.

For me the urges build and build until I explode. It's really difficult to get them totally out of my mind in the beginning. I've tried all the tricks and the truth is until you get some recovery time behind you it will remain difficult. The struggle is real, addiction is real and when they say it's a progressive disease it's totally real. Get into some recovery groups, try different ones until you find a group that fits and make the best choices you can. Understanding and recovery will actually put choices back into your mind. Before I never made a choice, I just did what I wanted. Eventually you have to deal with the consequences and it gets worse and worse. Check out one of my previous post to some sites that have helped me. Good luck, it if possible even though you will feel like it isn't.

I am not sure how much it lasts for but what I know is if I have those urges I will process positive thoughts and that helps

I think distracting urself from the urges is better than waiting for It to settle. There might be certain conditions that u will have to consider like which environment did the researchers chose to do the experiment ,etc and that matters.

The more you feed the idea in your head, the stronger it will get and last. When you're craving, imagine a clock in your head stopping. From there, be rational and honest to yourself. Do I really want to do this, do I need it? How will it affect my body and my mind? Get your thinking going... Thoughts are the base of emotions. Ask for advice, maybe from a book or an article, maybe to whatever it is that is your spiritual guide. Then ask yourself - is this what my spirit and my body need? Or is it just an impulse I can't control? The craving will vanish as soon as you find the answer. You must overreason your emotions, not just put them away with distractions, that can't provide you resolution.

The more you dwell on them the worse they get. Usually I get a P flashback. If I start to dwell on it I get several urges throughout the next day or so about it. Usually will subside on its own ASSUMING I don't mess up and relapse.
