Favourite movies?

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, May 25, 2020.

  1. I haven't watched a lot of films in the past, but maybe you could give me some suggestions of great films. With that being said, what are your favourite movies?

I'll go first. Mine are: "Taxi Driver", "Leaving Las Vegas" and "The Big Blue".

    • Predator (Dillon you son of a b°•°h)
    • Riddick (the one with dingo-dongo critter!)
    • Rambo and Rocky (Stallone is great in anything he does)
    • Undisputed (Boyka is f•°•°•g bomb in all parts)

My favorite movie changes non-stop, but right now I just finished Apollo 13 and it was pretty good. The ending was slightly predictable and weak but overall it was still a good movie.

"Killing them softly". It's an amazing gangster film. The dialogue is tense and the violent scenes really leave an impression !

  4. In such an overloaded market as sci-fi, it is a masterpiece.

  5. I didn't really like that one. Andrew Dominik tried to imitate the style of Tarantino, but it didn't work well. Too much dialogue and very little action. The dialogue is actually very good, I'll give it props for that. Reservoir Dogs was a much better, very similar film.

Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! But yeah, Tarantino is the master of this genre. Try "Unforgiven". Film has depth and complexity. Love violent moves with good dialogue !

I want to mention that Inception is best move I have ever seen but I will focus on moves that are not so much popular

City of God (vicious circle of crime, and temptation of a young good man to become a criminal). MUST WATCH

12 Angry Men (12 men had to make a decision and determine the fate of a young boy).

Hotel Rwanda (man decides to protect people in a best way he can).

Primer (two men discover that they have mistakenly created machines that is much more complex than they imagined).

Coherence (Strange things begin to happen when a group of friends gather for a dinner party on an evening when a comet is passing overhead).

Room (Held captive for 7 years in an enclosed space, a woman and her young son finally gain their freedom, allowing the boy to experience the outside world for the first time).

Prisoners (this move has a good ambiguous ending and if it was any other way it wouldn't work)

Oldboy 2003 (the man was abducted and captured for 15 years and released without any explanation, ending
    reveals very disgusting reason).

My favourite is propably John Carpenter's The Thing. Although lately I watched a movie called Candyman. That movie made me feel like it might become my favourite, but can't say for sure yet. Other really good ones that come to my mind are Pitch Black, The Negotiator, most films by studio Ghibli... Maybe I'll add something later.
