I'm contemplating going on an all out dopamine detox and i wanted to hear some of the experiences that you guys may have had with it. I'm 56 days orgasm free and 20 days porn free, i don't really feel the 'superpowers' tho honestly, i'm probably right in the withdrawals phase, i'm heavily struggling with motivation right now. I was wondering if doing a full on detox would bring more withdrawals and at the end of the day do more harm than good psychologically, at least for a set period and if yes how long do you think it would last.

If you have no motivation how are you going to do a dopamine detox. That is unrealistic

Like the person above me said, it doesn't seem like you have source of motivation because you claim that you don't have "superpowers". What do you consider superpowers?
There's tons of benefits but habits should be changed in order to improve and semen retention gives you the power and the will to do so.

  4. That's because there's no such thing as "super powers". Nofap alone is not going to do anything at all, YOU have to build the life you want. If you want change, you have to start doing meaningful things. If you have health problems/goals/wants, you have to start making healthy changes such as exercising and eating healthier. If you have financial goals/wants/problems, you have to work on building your career or business. If you have a shitty love life, you have to go out and find a lady.

Doing nothing but resisting to touch your cock isn't going to do anything. Whatever meaningful thing you want in life, you have to work for it. It wont just magically appear on your lap. Set your goals, do whatever it takes to accomplish them and most importantly, have fun and stay positive.

My views of nofap have changed. I view nofap merely as a way to exercise willpower or increase self-esteem now. I don't believe in the "super powers" anymore.

While the answers above may make for a good wake up call, I'll answer your question directly based on my experience. I tried a full dopamine detox (still had to eat food because my parents were against fasting) on Day 11. On Day 12, I tried to do work and got a migraine. I laid on a couch for about an hour and a half wondering what was going on. I eventually realized that I had just entered a heavy withdrawal phase that is commonly reported around that day mark.

I empathize with how you feel. You want to get to the benefits as quickly as possible, but aren't seeing any of them after weeks of abstinence. My word of advice would be to avoid a full dopamine detox if you're worried it could lead to a higher chance of relapse in the end. At least in my case, I had heavy withdrawals the day after the detox.

In line with some of the replies above, I would also advise that you focus on your purpose for going through with the reboot rather than fantasizing or anticipating what it will feel like to attain your "superpowers." If you're anything like me, years of porn completely remanufactured your brain. As you have seen if you have read success stories in this forum, the way to undo that is through discipline and patience. That doesn't mean that you have to be productive all the time even if that may be your end goal. Even just getting through today without submitting to your urges is a tremendous act of self discipline.

Stay strong; your day will come!
