Question for those of you with some good streaks going, or did go.

How would you say nofap affects your ability to sorta figure out what you wanna do and pursue it?

I have like several things that I think I'm interested in doing but its just so cloudy and fickle, one day I feel like I'd like that then the next I don't.

I'm wondering how this kinda "search for a purpose" is figured out on your nofap journey?

Also, I wanna be clear, I'm not expecting to just figure out what I want and go after it simply because I'm doing nofap and expect it to fall in my lap, I know it will take hard work whatever it is. Im just concerned about getting the clarity that I lack now to figure out yes, this is what I wanna pursuez and these are the steps I need to take.

    Thank you for any replies.

I'm not on my longest streak ever, but I'm doing pretty well at 11 days so far. Lots of temptations and phantom PMO desires, but holding strong at the moment. Being in my 30's, I can say, 'figuring it out' is still a daily pursuit. I feel like I'm stuck being a jack of all trades, master of none. But I've been feeling greater than ever with my life over all. I think that's because I've never given up this pursuit. If you're constantly asking yourself what your purpose is, and trying to figure it out, things will unfold for you, as long as you're acting on that pursuit. Some pursuits are large, and some small. Explore them all. I try to listen to audio books as much as I can, and read books too. Find positive influences for yourself, people who are on a journey of their own, whether they appear to have it all figured out or not. The more I type this, the more I realize, maybe the answers are in the pursuit and journey. The hunger itself is keeping me fed, if you will.

Reading books will definitely help you finding your purpose. Especially biographies from people you admire. If you keep your eyes open, you'll find what you are looking for. But also don't fall into the trap of looking for the ultimately perfect holy-grail thing.
If you have something in mind, don't think that you could waste your time in trying this out, which possibly turns out to be not what you've looked for.

Who wants to keep all doors open will spend his life in the corridor. If you don't like what's in the room leave it and go through the next door.

what is a story you would love to tell others, where you would like to bring the most changes, how would you like others to
describe you. These are things you should keep in mind, and you don't have to limit yourself on just one thing because
it is possible to do many roles in life.

Doesnt matter. If it doesn't give you clarity are you not going to do nofap?

It matters to me. No ill still do it because of the other benefits I get.

Yeah so it doesn't matter because you are still going to do it whether or not it gives you clarity.

I don't get why you're being a douche about it though. What's wrong with me asking this. If I like tomatoes and was planning on eating one, is it wrong to look up the health benefits for tomatoes? I'm going to eat it anyway so it's a waste of time?

Honestly bro this a goofy ass question. How would someone even know that nofap is giving them clarity to figure out what they want to do.

  11. Before you post your comments, think about what you contribute. If you don't contribute anything, it's pointless to post and you're just wasting your time and everybody else's. With experience comes humility...

@DC803 , I like your question and I've thought a lot about my life since I started my nofap journey. The best thing with the NoFap journey is that you start to take responsibility of your life and slowly you're feeling you're getting control over your actions. The ultimate state is when your conscious mind is in complete control over your actions and you can control everything you do without letting emotions get in the way.

When you take one day at a time here, you realise your self-discipline grows hand in hand and if you keep going, you will begin to feel you can take on other challenges as well because the NoFap challenge gets easier day by day.

That said, what you will learn from a successful NoFap journey is that there is so much more in life that you can improve on and it feels so good to succeed. So I would say, with NoFap comes a better life in all ways. What you do with your life is totally up to you but things certainly gets easier when you are the one in control.

Before you play the moral ground then write a few paragraphs of dumb shit, consider why op is really asking the question (trying to avoid responsibility for his life and place it on the success of his nofap streaks) and also consider I am calling him out on this to try and help him.

  13. Oh that's just hilarious. You're trying to help him? Let me tell you one thing: You're not doing a very good job at that, neither with the attitude you have, nor with the message you're trying to convey.

"Dumb shit"? If your experience is different than mine and you're interested in starting a discussion, feel free to do so but be specific about what you don't agree on and try to be A BIT more constructive. Calling something just "dumb shit" doesn't sound very intelligent, you know that? :emoji_joy:

Ill explain to you the difference between our points of view, I think that will help you understand what I'm trying to do here better than having a discussion.

I believe humans are emotional creatures, ie our decision making and thinking is based upon our emotional state rather than reason. You seem to believe that humans are very rational creatures, ie our actions are well thought out before we take them, we have a reason for everything we do.

So I'm not going to write op a bunch of logical paragraphs if I want to change his mind. I think his ego is too heavily invested in the core issue (he believes nofap will help him take responsibility for his life so he can avoid taking responsibility), and I won't be able to change his mind on that. I call out the goofy question, hoping he will reconsider why he is asking the question and in turn see his own rationalisation.

Thats why I'm also not going to explain to you why what you wrote is dumb shit. Your homework is to consider other peoples ideologies, how ideologies are formed and how ideologies change, why everyone has an ideology, then try and understand my ideology and tell me why I think what you wrote is dumb shit.

Yes nofap will give you a clearer mind. Only if you exercise a lot, read, meditate and eat right though. I find that when i don't do much on Nofap the brain fog from porn does not go away. So honestly if you want to find your purpose you have to go find stuff to do, you can't just wait for things to come your way

  16. That's not really true. What I think is that an undisciplined human will act according to his or her emotions rather than rational thought. However, everyone can change and with a lot of hard work, one can make his or her rational thoughts have complete control over all actions. I have also proven that is the case because since I joined NoFap I've been working on exactly this thing.

How can you be so sure your assumptions are right without even asking him? You can't just assume his core issue is about responsibility, then give fuzzy comments about this without even explaining how you think, then hope he will reconsider his question. That's not how communication works! And it's quite rude as well.

Your comment makes me think you think you know exactly how I think without I even know it myself, which is complete nonsense. You seem to think you know exactly how other people work and everyone that does not work like you is an idiot. On top of that, you expect people to understand what you mean by writing things like "dumb shit". Again, that's not how communication works.

I wrote this last paragraph to encourage you to really try to understand my point of view and the way I think. I even tried to point out the main difference in the way we think to help you out, yet you still try to interpret what I write and do according to your point of view instead of mine.

Part of rationalising something to yourself is that you are unwilling to admit it, otherwise it would not really be a rationalisation. So asking him wouldnt be doing much

  18. And I wrote that last paragraph to encourage you to be more clear what your message is. I’m not going to sit here and try to guess what you’re trying to say. This conversation is over.

  19. More free time on your hands + clearer mind + increase in energy+ and good habits and working out= A better working brain. You think through things better, for a lack of a better word.

The only way to find is to try those things, take action and learn from life life. You will learn more from taking action and living life then most books will teach you.
