I agree with this, reason being is I have found myself in a cycle where i stop PMO for a period of maybe a month or two but then I just relapse when it feels like I am better. It is like I get complacent and forget why I am trying to kick this habit. Life normalizes and then I fall back into old habits.

Any tips on maintaining my consistency? Have not gone past 90 days in ages. Tired of feeling like I am failing, just can not seem to stay committed.

Keep a daily journal where you write down why you need to quit, all the negative effects of P, and why the excuses you tell yourself to relapse are wrong. Also make sure you are incorporating new habits, its the most important thing to do IMO

1-for seeking god valdiation and religious reasons
2- to beat my anxiety and be better in social life that i lost it
3-be more confidence with talking with others or strangers
4-having energy for jobs or working out
i treat this challenge as a gate to open and catch my dreams

@Mitsuro, me too, me too. I think that discipline is the act of following through with your intentions, with what the whole of you really wants, whether you're motivated or not. So although feeling motivated can help someone stay disciplined, it is irrelevant to discipline in and of itself. I think on some level of consciousness discipline is literally a sort of self-contained muscle, and it helps me a ton to conceptualize it that way. If, like me, you've spent most of your life giving in to fleeting pleasures that deep down you'd really rather whisk away, then that discipline muscle, or in other words the strength to by-pass momentary, thin and toxic desires is super fuckin weak. So I say don't put too many chips on motivation. Use it sparingly to get some momentum going toward whatever you want to do, but ultimately that discipline muscle will be strengthened precisely through doing what you don't feel motivated to do in the moment, but deep down really want to be doing with your life.

Wow. That was really useful to read, I think that’s how I’m going to think of it from now on. Daily work of my discipline muscle .

    Much appreciated Joseph

    1. To reach my optimal shape and peak of strength, of my own body.
    2. To get into a good and healthy relationship (this is a long term goal. I currently focus on bettering myself, which in the long run will help with this endeavor).
    3. To become a man with higher standards, and live up to my own expectations of myself.

My opinion about motivation is that you shouldn't rely on it entirely, instead you can rely on motivation and dicipline together. That is because from my own experience there are times where discpline alone will also fail you. For instance, pushing yourself too much to do many things you don't enjoy, by sheer discipline, might eventually blow in your face (literally ;)) - you might put yourself in such a mental/pysical misery, that might make a relapse very probable.

    Anyway have a safe trip!

  7. Yes to discipline and yes to motivation if and only if it is reported or recorded in journals. The thing with being motivated us it mostly gets pushed around, by people with more motivation than you for example. So make it a journal thing, later enjoy rereading your motivations, much like a menu at a restaurant. They will have changed and come and gone much like the choices you make at your regular eating out haunts. Honestly staying motivated is not like staying disciplined, but it is a useful habit and can begin the process of changing you from within...
