Hi guys, im struggling with relapse and my erection quality is worse than ever, non existent infact when it comes to sex and nocturnal erections have pretty much stopped.
I think the success stories of guys that have beaten ED through NoFap and quit porn Will really help me commit. I need to give up porn for good and wanna get back to my old self.

ED is caused by anxiety about ED.
99.9% of people who have ED have a preceding worry about ED.
99.9% of people who do not have ED were not worried about it before.
    Go figure.
ED is not the problem, it is the anxiety that causes it. So you must deal with the anxiety. If you lose the anxiety, you will lose the ED. Your body is hard wired to respond to sexual stimulus, but the anxiety sabotages it.
Stop worrying about it and it will go away, yes, that is easier said than done, but that is the simple truth.
This shift in thinking has helped me enormously. I'm 48 and have a solid morning wood most days. I'm seeing escorts after 10 years inceldom and things are improving, not dramatically cos I'm still nervous as hell but yes, things are definitely going in the right direction.
    Good luck :)

  3. You don't think it's porn related?

Porn doesn't help but no, not principally porn related, as I said I think it's anxiety related.
Imagine 2 guys, hitting on chicks in bars, casual hook ups, both can't get it up. Guy A thinks 'oh that's weird, never happened before, nevermind' and guy B thinks 'omg I've got ed I'll never be able to have sex again etc...' anxiety about something happening is pretty much guaranteed to make it happen. Easiest way to stay poor is to worry about being poor. Easiest way to get sick is to worry about getting sick. I think ed works in a similar way.

  5. So you don't believe the porn/dopamine ED theory then?
Funny how mine suddenly came out of the blue one day when i stopped watching porn for a week...but then I'd remembered just before wife told me a story of a previous sexual adventure with a partner and it made me jealous and stuck in my head for days. Could it be that which triggered it?

  6. I know mind affects body, but you are being too extreme here. ED can be caused by A LOT of factors, not only anxiety.

Recently, Italian researchers’ brain scans of guys with “psychogenic ED” (as opposed to “organic ED,” which arises from issues below the belt) revealed atrophy of the grey matter in their brain’s reward center (nucleus accumbens) and the sexual centers of the hypothalamus.

Grey matter is where nerve cells communicate, and less grey matter indicates fewer dopamine-producing nerve cells and fewer dopamine-receiving nerve cells. In other words, the study is evidence that psychogenic ED is not psychological, but rather physical. It comes down to low dopamine and dopamine signaling. These findings align perfectly with the hypothesis I put forward years ago in the precursor to this Porn & ED slideshow.

I think its both to be honest. Porn starts ED but anxiety about it happening makes it worse and sustains it.

I don't know, what is the porn/dopamine ED theory?

  9. That porn causes ED - too much dopamine messes up our brains, causing erectile Dysfunction.

Oh that. Did you hear that from a neuroscientist? Or from some random guy on the internet.
Bro science, at best. To be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

there are actually many studies proving this theory, its not "bro science", it was even discussed on The Doctors

Ok, yes of course porn can lead to ED, it's just when the average Joe on here talks about 'frying your dopamine receptors', I really, really don't think he truly knows much about neuroscience.
For example - people showing symptoms of depression have low levels of dopamine and serotonin. Yet, despite some of the smartest people in the world working on this 24/7, they cannot establish cause/effect - they don't know if the depression causes low levels, or the low levels causes depression.
If these guys can't figure out stuff like this then I'm pretty sure the average guy here can't either.
And I still stand by what I said, even if porn does cause ED, once that thought takes root, oh no I have ED I can't get it up, then that anxiety becomes the main cause of the problem.

  15. So there's the possibility its all in our heads then? Does porn actually sexually rewire our brains?? Dopamine aside...

I wonder if it's the length of time we watch porn and the edging that causes the issues, not the porn itself?

Well, in the absence of any physiological factors, like a damaged pelvic floor muscle, then yes, I think ED is entirely in your head.
I think any addictive behaviour, there is a degree of rewiring. I'm an alcoholic, and I knew that if I quickly drank 4 beers, I would feel like superman guaranteed, so that seek stimulus/consume stimulus/get buzz behaviour became very easy and impossible to resist.
But I believe just as the brain can be rewired negatively, eg - seek porn, alcohol, consume, get buzz, feel like shit etc... it can be rewired back, don't seek porn etc...that might take a bit more work, but it is absolutely possible. Believe me, my brain was absolutely wired into getting absolutely shitfaced 4 times a week - but i overcame it completely and it is no longer an issue for me.

  17. Same, I've had alcohol and drink issues in the past. Back then, I never considered porn could be problematic or addictive.

I noticed I only got PIED when I gave up porn for a week....reckon that could just be withdrawal symptoms? Nothing physically wrong down there, guess my body and brain are used to PMO as well as sex. I would like spontaneous erections and morning wood back though!

Hmmm. So this is like literally one time you couldn't get it up? Dude, stop worrying, seriously. If it happens another 10 times over the next few weeks, then maybe you have a problem.
It sounds like you're similar to me maybe. I was doing monk mode and found it deeply troubling. So I tried some different approaches and I've had huge success, not totally cured but I'm almost there and my sexual health is better than its been in years. Morning woods every day, and I'm 48. I'll post up what I did sometime, if it helps one person then it's worth it.

  19. It's happened to me on and off, I can get it up for porn or sex fine. But not with imagination.

Weird, I'm 34 and this only began a year or so ago.

Yea, lemme know!! DM if you want.
