Hello. I have recently started to try to give up pornography maybe 5 days and it is tougher than I thought. I am married and have been with my wife for 10 years. I had to tell her about my problem and that broke me. I have gone longer periods without porn or masturbation but didn’t seem to bother me as I knew I hadn’t stopped maybe just paused. This time as soon as I made a decision to stop my body and brain immediately rebelled. Flatline from day 1. Anxiety, depression, horrible thoughts out of nowhere.. all the symptoms. Had to cancel all my work for this week as I can’t sleep and don’t want to see anybody. My poor wife. I have done much damage to my brain and the only person that matters to me. I just want to feel what “normal” is as I may have never known. But these withdrawals are killing me.

    Welcome
Please, start studying carefully what's happening in your mind > https://oceanrecoverycentre.com/2016/07/the-ultimate-guide-to-overcoming-internet-porn-addiction/

First time without porn will be stressful , but if you resist , in some months you will feel reborn.

If the first times a person relapse easly, it's okay.
The streaks becomes even longer , day by day.
Don't porn anymore, it's better to struggle and at the last to relapse than to look at porn.
No more instagram pictures of models. No more erotic imagines , erotic stories or erotic asmr.
If you experience ''flatline'' and low libido , resist.

An effective weapon to overcome urges and thoughts : mindfulness.
The brain will try to win you and to get some triggers for the seek of dopamine. Resist

Welcome to the forum! I understand how you may feel, it can be both overwelming and frustrating! Along with guilt, shame and fear. But it does get better. Just keep trucking and dont give up!

It is crazy what my brain is doing and I can’t even go out in public. A literal zombie and my wife is a saint.

And I’d like to find some married people on here that have had to deal with confessing to a spouse and what the outcome and results were. Seems not to be too many here. My penis right now is essentially useless except for peeing.

  10. Jn75. Do not give up. I promise you there is something special at the end of the withdrawal period. Keep fighting and soon it will be easier. You are doing a phenomenal job so far. Be strong you will make it brother.

Also it seems I won’t ever sleep again. Common?

  13. Yes perfectly normal. You will not be able to fall asleep easily. Your mindset must be you will not masturbate no matter what, even if I lose sleep. Eventually you will win these battles and sleeping will be easier. I couldnt get good rest for a week. This is how badly PMO has affected us. You are doing a great job. Keep fighting.

Also like said I immediately feel like I flatlined like day 1. Is that possibly a good thing or bad?

  15. It's good. Your mind and body are adjusting. It's very good because you are feeling these things early on and your body is in tune with what you are doing.

Thanks. I was able to have sex with my wife before she left for work this morning. I woke up with ok erection and we did have sex. I usually pull out and finish with my hand but I didn’t want to do that and really didn’t need to. I still overall do not feel good and have terrible
Thoughts and anxiety. It really is crazy. Should I not have had sex with her?

If it was me id try to get a good streak first and then try to have sex to see if anything has improved.

She wasn’t sure if we should be doing it really and neither was I after just 1 week without porn or masturbating.
