Didn't know where to post this, so I chose Offtopic.

Seems like Mia Khalifa, a girl who worked in the porn industry in the past, is now talking about why porn is so bad in terms of exploitation. Maybe if this articles and news become more mainstream, we can convince more people into lurking about porn effect and convince them to stop using it.

In case you wonder, here is she talking about how sick is the porn industry and how they abuse her:

It's just an interview and an article, for people on a streak, don't worry, nothing erotic in the video or text site.

Maybe I'm going to come off as an uncaring person or maybe I'm missing the bigger picture, but tbh while I feel bad for her and anyone who isn't mentally in a good place enough to establish healthy boundaries, I don't think Mia is a good example of the really immoral side of porn industry based on this interview alone. Based on what she said there didn't seem to be any real coercion involved and while it sucks that people like her get drawn into this kind of shit, there is a point where other people's responsibility for your happiness ends and your responsibility begins. If you can't say 'no', it's not on other people to develop psychic abilities and read from your mind when you don't want to do something.

So yeah, while this sucks and I feel bad for Mia, I feel way worse for the people who got into porn through actual sex trafficing and by being straight up forced to it.

I've been friends with a couple people who used to be porn stars, and they regretted it. One was a guy who did it and became popular but then started doing 'gay for pay' porn and it started to get to the point where he'd get recognized in public. Even though he was making pretty good money, he really felt that it wasn't worth what came with it and he just stopped completely and has been fine since. Another was a girl who did it a while back and was super into it at first and then realized how dirty the industry was and got out of it, thankfully. I kind of felt bad for her because she was just one of those really gullible girls who thought she was getting into something empowering but turned out that she was just being taken advantage of.

Plus even some of the really big names in porn have been committing suicide or overdosing. It's sobering as hell. And then there's the sex trafficking part and that's just a whole other level of sickening.

I agree with this. I mean if something bad happens to someone and they suffer, I have sympathy for them. But I will not have sympathy beyond that. I will not have sympathy for her being a victim because she isn't. She made this choice herself and she is fully responsible for the consequences. Just because someone has insecurity issues doesn't mean they have to do porn to boost their ego by sexual attention from men. Because obviously it has ruined her life.

@Thomku I appreciate and agree that she is totally responsible for what happened to her by not saying no in the first place, but it seems to me from the points you're making you haven't watched the video included in the OP. What happened to her on the day itself is pretty blatant intimidation and grooming. You can't try and absolve the porn industry for obvious deception and emotional manipulation just because "unga bunga she could have said no".

  7. It's the "non-famous" performers that really get the short end of the stick. There are millions of them every year and I don't think that their stories are even being given a platform.

I know she was a pretty big name and had a huge following when she was in the business but she never "did it" for me. Like, at all. That doesn't really matter though, I'm glad she got out. As bad as her stories are, she got star treatment so I'm sure for many other women in the industry it's much worse.

Good point. When you don't have a voice, people can do whatever they want to you. Mia has the prestige (maybe now a curse) of being arguably the most famous porn actress ever. Of course people are going to listen.

Yet at the same time her story is pretty mild compared to most of the human trafficking that goes on in the industry, that people seldom hear about. It probably doesn't help that a lot of them are going to be stuck in the machine until they're either too old or emotionally scarred to be of any use.

really? child please . This womens whole fame is based on her porn career if she didnt get into porn she would be just another air head with fake boobs dancing at a club trying to get a sugar dady. She is so delusional thinking she is famous because of her brains not her body ,give me a break. The big twitter acount and everthing she has is due to the PORN she did. I am not saying getting into porn is great but she knew what she was getting into and has no accountablity for her self BLAME BLAME BLAME , Now she thinks she got were she is because of her mind LOL

  13. I was waiting for someone to bring this up.

She also has a T-shirt and merchandising business that’s based on her time in porn. The images on the merc are very racy, I consider it soft porn.

She’s still using her porn reputation and her fake boobs to make money. She’s weeping croc tears to keep people interested in her and what she has to sell.

I know there are videos out there that have people that are being coerced, drugged, and raped. But I don’t think she’s in that category.

I think there are other ex-porn actresses that have better credibility then her.

I dislike the ex-actresses who are just trying to pull heart strings but on the side are still making money either with soft porn, the cam business, and even escorting.

Mia is still making money off soft porn.

I think there are plenty of other solid sources of motivation to quit.

old? she a young ninfette ...

Jenni Lee , the naughty america and tonights girlfriend actress , who recently was found living with homeless people in LA , a shadow of her former self, bad teeth, drugs all of it, would be a better suitor for any example of a porn actress whose life went very sour. Mia khalifa, is not that.

But what do these people have in common with verso cinema, erika lust, girlsway, lust cinema, leolulu, mistress T, chicksoutwest and the thousands of others who engage in recorded sex content and whose life is not a trainwreck? etc

Why doenst the interviewer conduct an interview with any of them? or pierre woodman , the famous casting french pornographer and his daughter? now that i would like to see , the man is supposed to have had sex with thousands of girls and im sure has a lot to tell with regards to that industry ....

And in contrast to this Mia kHALIFA i would urge anyone here to see his Woodman Casting interview with Bobbi Starr from 2011 , its just talking no sex , the american actress who now seems to have stopped doing porn, and hear whats her opinion on why she did porn and what she likes and maybe read or listen to other interviews online... she has the opposite view of the victimized by the porn evil industry, and explains how and why she became envolved with it and it doesnt suit the PORN IS THE DEVIL narrative.

Be careful about disappearing down the 'ex porn stars turn anti porn industry' rabbit hole. It plays perfectly into that fantasy that us men have, about saving the beautiful young woman from the big bad world. Before you know it, you're another Simp paypal'ing her $$s for flirty texts and bikini pics, which isn't much less pathetic than porn (and decidedly more costly).

Some nasty misogynist language in this thread, which is a shame. Nobody comes out of porn looking good, not the users like us, not the performers (it seems a pretty normal reaction to be ashamed and embarrassed for taking part in stuff like this), even the producers don't make nearly as much money as they used to, and they have to deal with shady pimp/'talent' spotters and other undesirables. No, don't try and fight the whole industry, just avoid the whole thing.
