I'm curious if any of you have tried viewing porn while rebooting as a means of getting past it. Now, hear me out. I know that sounds like the worst thing you can do during a reboot. However, I was thinking, what if it could actually make your resistance to PMO stronger. What if when you get an urge instead of fighting it tooth and nail, you stop resisting, view porn (WITHOUT relapsing, of course) and keep your hands behind your back or on your head or somewhere far away from your junk, then just tell yourself repeatedly that you don't need or desire whatever you're watching. Tell yourself it repulses you and motivates you to get out and interact with real people in a healthy manor. And every time you get that urge write down why you don't need or desire whatever you're watching. They say whatever you resist persists. They say whatever you fear you need to face head on. Well what if we stop resisting our fear of porn and relapsing and face it head on and tell ourselves it doesn't have power over us. I'd love to know your thoughts on this.

You know one thing, the fact that you are tired of Porn, is a step to your recovery....
And that's why you are here......

You have started a new journey, that your body may first resist at a point, but your body get adapted to your new system of life slowly.....Though sometimes, you may be too powerless to resist, but yet you are communicating your resistance to your brain......

Do this, though they are not rules, but guide line

1.Ask yourself and be sincere, what triggers me to replase?

    2. Remove all element of Porn and what actually made you watch Porn
    3. Believe and pray to God for help

One day, you will celebrate 1 months, three months, 6months without Porn, and you will leave fine

This sounds like a massive rationalization by your subconscious to watch porn.

  5. I tried it a few years ago, it went badly wrong for me. I would look at porn and play it through my mind and see it for what it really is and not M (I would only do this now in an emergency!).
It seemed to work at first but I was getting a high from looking at the porn and not M and it became compulsive. I lasted for about three weeks then inevitably I PMO'd. I felt worse than I ever had and it look a long time before I had a period of abstinance again.
I would definitely NOT recommend deliberately looking at porn as a way of rebooting.
That's my experience but of course it's up to you.

You and ShogunGeneral have good points. Me thinking this would work is probably just my brain desperately trying to trick me into watching porn again. At the end of the day no matter what other options you think of, your best bet is to always going to be to just avoid porn altogether and never go back.

I had tried that and it didn't work. I eventually relapsed. I had a similar idea of 'tapering off'. Like gradually lowering the frequency and intensity until one would be looking at women who were fully clothed or in bathing suits, maybe once a month or every couple weeks. However, that didn't really work either. That's actually much more difficult to do, for the very principle that you stated: 'whatever you resist, persists'. You are basically constantly making yourself resist the temptation of acting out while looking at porn or not looking at hardcore porn or delaying the urge until a set day. The more you interact while resisting, the stronger the urge to just relapse.

For me, I had to cut off access entirely. If there is no porn than there is nothing to resist and there is a chance for healing to occur.

I agree, I think that the best route is to just cut yourself off completely. Not just from porn but also social media because that tends to be a huge trigger. I mean, realistically speaking, we're probably better off avoiding the internet in general entirely when possible. Same with TV, movies, and even video games. Unfortunately, there's sexual triggers everywhere. However, I don't agree with other NoFap users that looking at real women you see in public is problematic. I think that should be healthy and help recovery because you notice yourself starting to see things differently about them and appreciate the little things more as you progress in NoFap. For example, when I first started I would just look at a woman and think, "she's hot, big ass, I'd smash". Now I can look at them and appreciate the sparkle in their eyes or their smiles. Your sensitivity increases I guess. That motivates me to continue with NoFap because I don't want to be an addict looking at people like objects. I have a girlfriend, mom, sisters, etc. and I would want people to look at them like human beings so I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't do the same to other women. But that's just me, other people may be deeper in it than me and can't look at it that way.

    That's a good point.

I think that porn distorts my perception of reality. So when I can disengage from it, I start to see things as they are, such as the inherent beauty of people and the environment.
