Does NoFap really help fix Brain fog?

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by NebulousRiver, Jul 25, 2020.

  1. How much clarity do you guys personally experience when staying away from PMO?

Practically my whole life I've felt like I've been in a daze. Being stuck in my head filled with fear and wondering why I can't function to my fullest. In recent years I've come to the conclusion that PMO is the cause of why my brain always feel so foggy - and not because I'm damaged or dumb. I'm hoping that NoFap will help me regain mental clarity.

I'll say this. Once you are no longer controlled by PMO and constantly FAPPing you get out of that fog. Your brain is no longer constantly drawn to P and you better able to focus on becoming the man you want to be.

So far (20 days) I can say that it is much better in my case. Of course I have some good and bad days sometimes (recently bad much less often). Anyway I feel like my mind is clear and it is easier for me to focus. I also meditate a lot and the benefits from it are stronger and last longer (clear mind, sense of peace, feeling in control etc.) than before. So yes it really helps.

    Yes, it helps! A lot!

For me it already started fading away after day 5 or so.. It is probably different for everyone, but for me this one of the top benefits.

Here is my take on perceived lifting of brain fog.
Your unconscious focus shifts from porn to meaningful things when your addiction weakens.

A big part of our mental capacity is working subconsciously. It predominantly deals with things that seem (subconsciously) important to us.
E.g. you have a sudden idea about how to solve a problem, even when you were thinking about something completely unrelated.
E.g. you recognize a good opportunity, even when you were not looking for it.

For porn addicts a large part of this subconsciousness is occupied with porn instead of being utilized for meaningful tasks.
The less you are addicted, the more of this mental capacity is freed up to work on your real life challenges.
When this happens you actually use your brain more efficiently.

    Does that sound plausible?

  8. Well worded! I never really thought about our subconscious minds and how closely it really ties into porn use - it's almost impossible to focus in when our capacity is maxed out from PMO.
