I read that semen retention helps to repair our dopamine receptors and androgen receptors. I also see people say that when doing retention to also do things like a dopamine detox, reduce sugar etc. Just wondering what is people's experience with this? have they had the benefits even without doing a detox, cutting sugar or making other changes... or do you need to make those changes also to really feel the benefits of semen retention?

    Cheers

I have worked on retention.......carbohydrate reduction......etc.........I think they all can make you feel better AFTER you go through any withdraw symptoms since ejaculating (dopamine rush) and sugar are both addicting.

So, I recommend do as much of these good things as you can. Being "pretty good" at a lot of them will have a much bigger impact than being perfect at one of them.

  3. It has physical benefits as well as psychological benefits. It especially strengthens the immune system. You can turn in to winter soldier over time.Even a 110lb girl used to have a stronger immune system than mine...But now everything has changed.I am grateful to God for experiencing this.

Interesting perspective you have. Masturbation is FAILING at procreation. Hence the shame. Fascinating. Now I better realize why some women I know are having "great sex" with their husbands, yet they feel terrible--because what they really want is a baby.

I did some techfree streaks over the past month which lasted 2 days, 10 days, 12 days and 5 days.

Obviously I was doing nofap as well at the same time and I was surprised at what was happening during those streaks. Basically it's like going through hard mode but everything happens sooner. Withdrawals hit much quicker and porn cravings were much higher, I also started to get insane morning wood after only 2 or 3 days when usually this doesn't happen to me until much later - I'm now 7 days regular hard mode and still not seen that level of MW yet. I'm now fully of the belief that it's all dopamine, everything. When you're online browsing forums, watching videos, listening to music etc you are constantly drip feeding dopamine into your brain, obviously porn is more like a tidal wave in comparison but these things are still little hits of dopamine. You can still reboot whilst keeping these things in your life but if you really want to quicken the process then try cutting out as much technology as you can handle for a while and see what happens.

I’ve theorized that your body somehow knows instinctively whether you’ve ejaculated inside a vagina or not. Beyond just your conscious brain realizing.

I agree with False Promise. I think the body knows. I read somewhere once that the oxytocin levels are 4 times higher after an ejaculation in a vagina vs via masturbation.

  8. In fact, we know instinctively that we can reproduce by having sex.For example, most male lions kill their offspring to mate with other females. Not only lions but many animals do this to mate with females.

I have definitely experienced a reset of my dopamine and androgen-receptors since I stopped fapping almost 2 1/2 years ago. Having my dopamine-receptors healing was probably one of the first benefits I experienced (after only two weeks of abstinence) because all of a sudden, the little things in life started to excite me more and more.
Whereas previously, they had just felt dull, mundane and indifferent. When I cut coffee and caffeine out of my diet two months ago (have only drunk a cup of tea since), I experienced even more of a dopamine and androgen-receptor recovery as I got a close and intimate contact with my senses and mind that I had never felt before. It really made me think that coffee and tea (especially the former) are drugs that should be consumed very moderately, if at all since they tend to cloud and numb your senses.

Imagine how crappy the vast majority of the population must feel as they binge on (P)MO and coffee (plus junk-foods and processed foods) all day long without interruption. The contact with their senses and mind must be almost non-existent and hence, they continue living in a thick fog.

Agree with Angus. Semen retention has decreased my dopamine receptors in a way that it has drastically changed my threshold for pleasure.

I don't crave for grand things anymore. Also, I am more psychologically resilient to stresses in life and do not anymore depend on pleasure to relieve stress.

I hypothesize that Semen retention downregulates the dopamine receptors in the brain, giving one more peace and contentment

Plus, the dopamine from all the electronics and social media screws up the dopamine-receptors even more. I bet the people that are the most active on Facebook and social-media chasing likes are chasing the dopamine and are feeling miserable as soon as they don't get enough likes. This is how plenty of women feed their egos. Egos that are very fragile to the least critique or questioning.

Do you guys really mean "down regulate the dopamine receptors"? Don't you mean up regulate?

I would think that semen retention allows you to experience pleasure in general more easily. As I understand it, that means your dopamine receptors are working better......

I realize this is only a question about the terminology. I do not disagree with either of your points.
