Hey folks! I'm curious how you guys and gals on the track to a more full and vibrant life start your day... Over the last week and a half I've gotten serious about my mornings, starting with some Wim Hof breathing and hydration, followed by a hard run, cold shower and ten minute meditation with Headspace.

I've been building a routine and cutting down on vices all summer, leading up to my first attempt at a full 3-month reboot/sober plan from drink, drugs and pmo that I will start the first of September. I'm still working out a daily schedule, so your input here, either as bullet points or a detailed answer, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! AND GET AFTER IT@#&%^!#$&*#!!!^@%#

  2. Ohh, never done anything that radical! I just start off my mornings with basic shower if needed! basic tooth brushing then following face shave and cleanse.. Then I see what I can do today!

Wake up a at 0400 hours and do some work until 0600 hours.

Then go for a run and work on my sprinting form until 0630.

I get all my grooming (shower, brush teeth, beard trimming, etc.) done before 0700.

Then I pray, eat breakfast, and contemplate my day up to 0800 hours.

Then after that is just my grind comme d'habitude. It may differ once I get back to school as the 2 hours after I wake up could be used for homework. I could get my workout, grooming, praying, and eating done earlier too as I have to transit to school. On the bus I could do more work and do some more when I get off at school. I try to go to school earlier as that allows me to ask my teachers questions and get feedback.

@Adi sivar Very nice! So you stretch before you workout then? I've never really considered that... Sounds like a solid start though, keep it goin!

  7. I wake up at around 8am30 naturally, but I really wish it was earlier, working on it. My morning/waking routine is super simple but I'm trying to build it up. After waking up I immediately check my social media notifications, go to the kitchen prepare a decaf coffee or espresso, then I go to the bathroom, then I weigh myself, drink my coffee, clean my face with micellar water, make my bed. Then I try to exercise (low impact) as quickly as possible after this routine otherwise I don't do it, then I shower, meditate for 5min, and make a prayer. Then I start my day.

It's absolutely not optimized, and a lot of these things I don't do naturally but because I'm trying to lose weight and currently am doing a 30 days challenge. As I said I really want to build up and strengthen what I already have, like adding things like brushing my teeth, flossing, drinking actual water first and not coffee, oil pulling, stretching, journaling with prompts, reading more, practicing mindfulness, avoiding social media the second I wake up, using an analog alarm clock rather than my phone, budgeting, playing the guitar, cleaning up... And I fast so I don't breakfast :)

Best of luck in your journey!

@Cirilla Hey that's a real solid start to the day, good on ya! Ooft, I must say though, waking up to social media AND decaf coffee?!?! I would be so fucked!! I needs the caffeines, and peace of mind away from the internets... Sounds like you have a solid grasp of where you are and where you wanna be, thanks for the input... Keeper movin, and straight shootin!

  9. Thanks! Yes I'm really trying to curb out my caffeine consumption. I've drank decaf since like, 4 months? So it's getting much better now. At first it was brutal. And about social media, what can I say it's an addiction. To you as well man :)

I centre myself by taking deep breaths after I wake
    Gym
    Breakfast/rest
    Cold shower
    Meditate

The above list is a must for me the list below is something I'm either trying to learn or fit it on elsewhere.

    Yoga
    Learn a instrument
    Accounting ( more budget watching)
    Becoming more spiritual
    Learn a new language
    Do a load of washing

Lately I have been getting out of bed at 0630 but waking up a 0400 (not completely waking up) way before my alarm. If this keeps going I will have plenty of time to do all these things.

If/when I do start waking at 0400 I will have to change my routine around, maybe something like this.

    Centre myself
Load of washing (if there is any)
    Yoga
    Breakfast/ rest
Learn language or instrument or both
    Gym
    Rest
    Cold shower
    Meditate

The morning's are worst for me when it comes to PMO.

Ya with midnight shifts it may be hard but you could try for 0600 hours. Main point is that your mornings are your most efficient hours so you need to optimize them. One thing that helps with getting good sleep so you can wake up beast mode tomorrow is meditation before bed. You have a whirlwind of thoughts that prevent you from getting sleep immediately so the best course of action would be to settle the dust by meditating. Just do it until you pass out limp and keep everything black so it will whisk you to the next day.

  12. My ''routine'' is getting off my bed directly after waking up, take a cold shower and go meditate. I'm trying to cut PMO, sugar, video games and social medias all at the same time but it's not so easy, right?

Yes it activates your muscle fibers that were dormant while asleep ,stretching is necessary after waking and warmup

@onix I like your name broh, and damn that's one full morning you got on the horizon there, sounds intense as hell good luck! If you're focusing on all that stuff there's no way your brain will find the time or energy for pmo temptations

@CoolRandomDesiDude Ya know, I've actually been praying to sleep lately, I'm not sure if I believe in God as such, but in the same way you're using meditation before sleep I kind of try to get to the roots of my thoughts, and then pray for help for myself or whoever I'm worryin about, or thank God/ The Universe/ The Force/ Elon Musk for all the stuff that's right, and it kind of empties me out to where I can drift off

@TudoBem23 Brev, that's a wide fackin load for sobriety goals, hows it goin?! I've dropped smokes and whiskey and most porn use all at once, but I had a slow tapering plan, and took this whole summer to do it! Whenever I slay the whole slew of demons at once, I never last more than a week......

  17. Struggle to get out of bed, look at bible verses for a few minutes, take a shower and get ready for work

I don't think I'll do them all every morning, may have to mix it up a little. But they do say your more productive in the morning's. I might as well use it to my advantage.

Some great morning routines here! For those just starting out with the early rising thing, I would recommend trying something for a few days/weeks and see how you feel, and don't be afraid to change things up. I tried for years to start my day with running, but it took enormous self discipline and I just couldn't keep it up. Now I start my day with yoga instead, and it's absolutely pleasurable for me, I wake up alert and happy to start it with no gruelling self-discipline required (apart from just forming the habit at the start).

Running in the evening seems to suit me much better, for some reason!

    My current morning routine is:
5am-6am wake up (was 5 on the dot every day until a few weeks ago, I have let myself go a bit. I'm going to get back to it!),
~20mins bible study (I am following the bible in a year course at biblestudytools.com)
20-40mins yoga (usually follow the recommended videos on yogawithadriene.com. Sometimes I will do a longer session at the weekends, either using a book or from my head).
~30mins drink coffee and watch part of a film before my family wake up.
Then I make breakfast for my wife and baby, and help my wife get to work on time. At the weekends I usually keep the baby happy while my wife has a lie in (she is on night feed duty, so is frequently exhausted!)
