I basically need to find something else to do, as I am far too bored too frequently. I already walk a lot every day, and I have tried many other things.

But I was round at a friends the other day and we were playing his playstation for a while, and I actually thought it was actually really fun.

    I haven't gamed for years.

I have heard it's not really a good thing to get in to though. But my friend literally said he doesn't know what he would do half the time without his playstation.

Look I honestly don't feel like going out for a a walk, a run, exercising everyday really cuts it if I am being honest with you. I easily still get bored even if I am engaging in stuff like this frequently.

I feel like I am turning to alcohol a lot of the time through boredom. I mean I could go out a 10 mile walk in the day and work in the garden for hours and I still feel bored.

I just feel like I need something else to do that I actually really enjoy.

Yeah, that could work. Just avoid games that have nudity and/or sexuality, because they could trigger a desire to masturbate.

I think you’d be alright starting it, but just know - if you have an addictive personality at all it is very easy to lose control and go overboard. I find this with myself all the time.

I’m not sure what else you might take up, but odds are it will be more healthy than gaming!

    I've been gaming forever.

I am now considering creating a new goal not to game and to use that time towards meaningful things, like reading + learning....

Gaming has taken away so much joy out of my life. It has seriously numbed my mind. The addictive nature of gaming is no different than pornography. Gaming companies reel you in.... dopamine fix.

Don't overdo it and preferrably don't combine it with eating and drinking (figuratively) shit or other bad habits.

  6. Gaming is a perfectly fine (albeit expensive) just so long as you don't overdo it, and turn it into a problem or another addiction. Especially if you're quitting an addiction like porn, your brain wants to replace it with another source of dopamine so just make sure you stay on top of it, and do the necessary things You should be doing in a day.

  7. Gaming is a good idea. BUT, you must not do it at the cost of other stuff in your life.

well, it may be a good distraction but be careful notto have an addiction for games..

  10. I use video games in an unhealthy amount to distract myself from life's difficulties, to the point where my relationship to games is best described as an addiction.

People can play games and be healthy. But I have been unable to do that in my life.

  11. I think if gaming is fine as a career or as a recreation. Whether this outlet is healthy for you is something only you can answer and something only time will tell. If you’re not a career gamer then you’re using it for recreation, which only becomes unhealthy if you let it consume you to the point you are putting off your obligations or damaging your health. With all recreation, it’s wise to have a set amount of time for play. For me, I notice I use games to avoid difficult situations and people, and I will let games consume me and my time when I know I should be working on other things. I have concluded, for myself, that gaming has not been a healthy activity in my life.

Like anything, just make sure you monitor the amount of time you put into it.

    If you are I'd suggest:
    - Playing only in an open part of the house (not your bedroom)
    - Play standing up to avoid getting comfortable and getting bad posture
    - Do not play PC games as its an instant gateway to distraction

  14. Get Kinnect for an Xbox One.

  15. Whenever I see Kinect I always remember this video. lol

Gaming, trading, gambling...this is what I tried. It helps distract me and keeps me entertained

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy gaming. I've spend many hours with friends online having fun playing games, and I've meet some fantastic people who have a shared interest in gaming. It's definitely changed who I am today.

That being said, many popular games today are designed to keep people playing as long as possible and as much as possible. I don't want my life to revolve around games, so I have to stay mindful of how much gaming has an impact on routine. It's a dangerous hill to go down, and many have had borderline addictions after years of it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are games worth playing, but be careful that the game doesn't end up playing you.

apologies for such a cheesy ending

Whatever you do dont go the alcohol route. Especially currently during this pandemic. Forget the Kinect clip (which is funny btw)...youll end up like Martin Sheen in Apocolyspe Now smashing mirrors w/ The Doors on loop. Hopefully Im not the oldest here.
Aside,Ive actually wanted to start a garden but seeing as how its hot af currently not so advisable. My hobby was-
Motorcycling. I learned to ride again after a very long hiatus and not so plesant experience. I have a bike. Its provided me some of the greatest memories and is amazing therapy for me personally. Its challenging and insightful and I go at my own pace. I travel less traveled roads, and have found some goregous places that almost instinctivly speak tomy soul and what helps. The only other amazment has been experiences on the open sea,and seeing how thats not currently an option,Ill try motorcycling. Trick is tofind a new joy with a healthy balance

I'd say skip it, gaming is a huge addiction as well. My son is addicted to gaming, probably porn as well, has no other interest. I'd look into creating art, musical instruments, diy projects, home projects. Learn a new skill that sparks your interest, writing is a great one as well, hiking, fitness, travel.

Actually the more I think about it, I don't understand why quit pm, if anyone is going to spend the majority of their day staring at a screen rather it's a phone, TV, computer, life is too short to be wasting it while sitting on our asses. Get up, create, do something that you'll be proud of and feel great about.
