NoFap Scam? What do you guys think?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Sep 1, 2020.

  1. So I just got an ad on YouTube for pinnacle of man, claiming to have a flawless 3 step plan to never relapsing again. I followed the ad to his website were I joined a webinar that lasted half an hour explaining his story and how this method saved him and all these other guys he taught. His plan literally claimed to remove all urges, apparently after this I would not even have to fight an urge again!

With all this build up and convincing, I was getting very suspicious. Of course at the end a pay wall came up asking me to pay hundreds of dollars for this plan. Anyone else heard of this? Seems like there's no way there could be any truth behind it. You can find pinnacle of man on YouTube and all his comments seem to be very positive. I also couldn't find anybody discussing this here, it just seems strange. What a horrible thing to take advantage of people with this addiction.

In every harsh situation will be a fake messiah claiming that he has the perfect solution with no effort etc.. I dont believe in this and i stop buying in this in all aspects in life ( even on fitness you find the diet that wont make you hungry but you will lose 20 pounds in one week- BS). Even the most successful plans arent the best 12 step plans in SA or AA and their ideologies about recovering and how to be sober are kinda wrong for many people. This is our life, so we need to make the plan, of course you can get some great insights by those groups or even by that guy you named but still this will be your journey- so the next time that urge will come it will affect you not him. People just want to make profits from desperate people smh, so unethical. If you need any help just send me a messege

There is no way to remove urges for an addicted brain. This is a physical, biological and neurochemical problem, it isn't psychological.

Unfortunately, there is big money to be made in psychological and motivational fixes. This is a scam. We are dealing with the biology of a living brain which is malfunctioning, there are no easy fixes except for facilitating it to rewiring naturally as expediently as possible. As for that, all the information is freely available on YBOP and from user reports.

  4. People with underlying psychological issues will benefit if those issues are dealt with. Especially if they started because they were sexually harassed in their life. I don't know what can be gained by going down to the very atom. We aren't just a bag of neurons.

That's a very different situation than what OP is talking about. I would argue that Youtube is the wrong place to turn to if you have been sexually abused. See a licensed clinician rather than getting lured by clever marketing and going through an internet paywall.

Still @The Pleasure Delusion said it right.. We arent a bunch of neuron and we are not a machine either. Addiction is based on psychological factors most of the times. Psychological problems lead to the abuse of a bad habit such as drugs and that bond is due to them. This is the reason some get addicted easier than others. Of course if you abuse many times a drug you can get addicted because of brain chemistry but a brain isnt only chemicals and parts. My opinion is that psychology factor is more important than the psysiology one when talking about addictions. Peace

Hey guys. I have joined Josh's course in 2020 and it has been a really positive experience for me. Before joining... I read reviews online, but since the "scam" reviews never came from someone who actually joined the program I ended up buying it since I didn't want to believe victim-minded people. The course and coaching was not a magic-pill solution, but the course and the stepby step excercises were very helpful and I would have never been able to figure this on my own. I followed the course and have been sober from porn for almost a year now. There's a few guys struggling, but most of the guys I have seen in the program are doing quite well bc of the support from Antonio, Josh and other mentors who are really friendly and just great mentors to have. For me the most useful part were those coaching sessions with licensed therapists who helped me find the root cause of my porn addiction. And honestly, I met super cool group of guys who were part of my assigned accountability group with whom I became really close with. If you do end up joining, find me as Francisco R in the members group. We have a big group chat with the guys from this forum so I can add you to the group.
