I am on my 10th day of my 30 day challenge. Last night, I did watch some porn for about 5-10 minutes, but I didn't fap or really masturbate. Just watched it, really. I was wondering if I had to start over because of this or am I still good on my abstainance. I feel like I shouldn't have to start again because I only watched, but wanted to get others input.

My thoughts on this instance would be 'how did you watch porn, after 10 days, without masturbating to it'? That would take phenomenal willpower (if you indeed had a true addiction to it). I think the fact that you did not act out is a definite good thing mate. But be aware that the very act of watching could be dangerous and detrimental to your progress and development.

@Cams I didn't really watch one for that long. It was more of a few videos for a couple minutes each. After about 5 minutes, I started to get the urge to fap so I had to turn it off. I regret doing that and don't plan on doing it again because I don't want my addictive ways to start again. I feel less perverted sexual thoughts throughout the days when I don't watch porn also.

I commend you on your ability to not act out despite watching it mate. That for me would be a bridge too far at this stage in my recovery!

  7. Reality check:

Mate, you have a porn addiction. Not a masturbating addiction, a porn addiction. Stop rationalising that it is OK to watch porn. Period.

    Practical advice:

How did you rationalise that watching some porn is ok? Write down your rationalisation. Then write down a counter rationalisation. Next time you start convincing yourself "just a peek" is ok, repeat your counter rationalisation.

You didn't look for porn for 10 days. If you can do that, that is great news, because it tells me that you are capable of not look at porn for 90 days.

What are you hoping to give up? Porn? Masturbation? Both? If you think it was ok to view porn this time, what's stopping you viewing porn every day but not masturbating to it? Why not just allow yourself 10 minutes every now and then in that case?

Only you can decide whether you need to reset or not, it's your goal you're working towards. Personally, I think going cold turkey is the only way. Anything else counts as a relapse.

@stipa31 @Calvinklein @Break the Chain @AS87 @icandoit22 Thanks for the advice everyone. During the weekend, I tried to just watch again and relapsed after 12 days. I'm starting again today and I'm going to stop pretending like it is ok to just watch, because in reality it is just like saying I am going to just watch people smoke cigarettes but not have one. It might work for a little bit, but eventually you are going to take a cigarette after enough watching.
