  1. I don't know what approach to take. On the one hand if one completely forgets about porn one could say that one has finally overcome addiction, the problem is that if it was something new at one time then it can be new after forgetting about it and therefore one can fall back into the vice. On the other hand, if you actively fight porn you will never forget your past and how pleasurable it was, having it as something bad can help reduce the desire to use porn again but you still live side by side with it.

As you can see, neither is perfect since both have pros and cons.

    What do you think?

  2. I think forgetting it would be a better approach. I mean if you forget it then you won't have any need to view it in the first place as you'd be occupied by other activities. In a sense, through forgetting it you have fought the desire to be reminded of it by not treating it as your drug. Porn has some stuff that you will undoubtedly find arousing, but if you cast it aside and forget it, then it's over.

This is the approach I'm now taking. Since this addiction which began last year, I know the trigger and understand that I've become a voyeur and I can accept that. Yet that doesn't mean I'll rely on porn for eternity. Just accept that I have these fetishes and move on.

  3. Nor forget, nor fight.

You need to eliminate your use of p0rn.

    Truth will set you free.

When you're trying to assess your disposition like this you should look to the central element. It appears for example that you have made porn the central element. So maybe instead of asking whether you should eradicate it or forget it you should ask whether it is central to the issue whatsoever or rather more distal.

Intrusive thoughts, poor behavioral control, and neuroticism are more central elements to addiction than the content itself. These are the actual elements that needs to be addressed in fighting any kind of addiction. Focusing on the porn is like missing the dartboard completely; you must fight the central elements.

Tl;dr forget porn not fight it.

Do people who quit smoking or cocaine go on a crusade to save humanity? No, because that is insane.

Forgetting porn is almost impossible. Its like telling an alcoholic to forget alcohol. He simply can’t and definitely won’t forget it. He’ll see a tv commercial, he’ll get invited to parties, etc etc.

Same applies to us. P triggers all are over the internet and social media. I think the best approach here is to fight it and advise friends, and young brothers not to go through this route. Not necessarily a crusade, but keep advising against it whenever you have the chance to.

Advising friends against porn because triggers are everywhere is the exact same thing as advising friends against cocaine and alcohol most people who quit these things don't try to force their ideas on others but respect people's choice to make poor decisions

It does no good to speculate about stuff but I for sure have been addicted to many things over the course of my life including gambling, cocaine, and alcohol but also risky sex, dangerous/reckless behavior the list goes on and on it doesn't stop so I'm just saying you must address the central element good sirs and it is not porn. Often times the central elements are: substance use disorders, personality disorders, neuroticism, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder. Quitting behaviors is one thing but you have to be prepared to continue to face the real demons porn is just demonspawn.

Even if porn is the only thing you are addicted to you must understand that we're still operating within established parameters - models of psychology. If you want to invent new models that's one thing be a pioneer but you can't cherrypick if you're a true scientist you must respect the working models to some extent - addiction has been extensively studied and there are very thorough models of addiction that are 100% completely relevant and applicable to pornography addiction

if this were not true then it would not be valid to suggest porn addiction is similar to other addictions, mindlessly reciting dopamine dopamine dopamine like a chant

That's an intresting question. It came to my mind sometimes. I think forgeting the addiction would be great but it is very difficult to achieve. Trying actively to forget something is such a paradox. I believe we need both, we can forget it by doing new activities and we can learn and acknowledge how bad it is.

  8. Porn will never never never love you back bro, useless, worthless to even think about it or say fighting it. Put that energy in something productive that will reward you.
Just accept your past, accept the fact you were ignorant, and move on. Women are what they are and porn is just doing the job of what women are involved to.
Remember , 100 asses or tits will never satisfy you, never love you back... For me you should forget about porn for good.

I agree, probably what’s best as others have posted here and you probably concluded on your own is to make the habits and goals the main priority and make “should I watch porn/should I not” 10% priority or less, each year decreasing it.
