Has anyone else had severe sleep loss that they believe is linked to PMO?

For the past several years I've had very bad sleep issues. I noticed that if I PMO then I would get almost zero sleep that night. Then if I don't PMO for 2-3 days I sleep better, but still wouldn't be able to get a full night of sleep. Even if I didn't sleep for two or three nights in a row, if I PMO then I still wouldn't be able to sleep more than 1 or 2 hours. Melatonin and CBD do absolutely nothing for me. This sleep deprivation has caused me a lot of bad problems, but that's not the point of this thread.

I've tried researching this online, but can't find anything that links PMO and sleep loss.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Yes, it always happened to me. Also if I had a streak and then broke it to binge on PMO, my sleep would be really messed up for days. My brain would enter withdrawal and I got severe anxiety and insomnia. My body would feel like I absolutely needed to MO, in order to be normal again.

OK sounds similar to what I've experienced. When I was PMO'ing regularly like every day my sleep wasn't great but it was good enough. Once I got to the point where I was only PMO'ing like once a week or every other week it would really mess up my sleep very badly like you're saying.

  4. My severe insomnia is caused by PMO. I am never able to sleep after PMO and during the first weeks of withdrawal.

Definite insomniac here. Have you heard of ASPD - no not that aspd (that i definitely do not have), but the "advanced sleep phase disorder"
i have no idea what's up with this, but sometimes i go to bed before 1900h and wake up at around 0230h. Very bad, very annoying. When this happens all week it affects my life in a negative way.

What I can tell you is sleep is a very salient indicator of general health both physical and psychological. If your sleep is inadequate something is not right. So you're wondering if it's linked to "pmo". Well for sure sleep loss is related to stress. Definitely quitting an addiction leads to stress. But also, being addicted to something is very stressful as well. Plus the overexposure to sex probably wears down your reuptake system and ages you extremely prematurely. I bet it's a huge mix of all of this. I'm on a huge crusade here to spread the good word.

I go to bed around 11pm and usually wake up around 3am which is corresponds with the end of the first REM cycle. I think oftentimes I don't get a second REM cycle because after I wake up I sleep very lightly on/off for the rest of the night.

I think its the withdrawal effect. When you are PMO addict and fapping regularly, you don't experience all of the consequences right away. Once you start to quit, you are hit with everything. Then when you binge to cope with urges and withdrawal effects, you multiply them and make it worse. And this is the most damaging part of the cycle. This is rock bottom and climbing out from here takes longer than 90-days. It takes months to a year+, according to some reports.
