There are certain daily activities in our routines that remind us of our addictions. For some, just being alone or bored is a powerful trigger.

For me, it's having a hot shower. Nothing feels quite as awesome as hot water on your back. I've always liked long showers. It's my time to relax and think about my day. But sadly, I also used my showers as a time to MO every morning without being caught.

Even just being in the bathroom is a trigger, because I did the vast majority of my PMO on the toilet (less messy that way, and you don't get caught because people think you were just using the toilet).

Now, every time I take a shower or use the bathroom, I'm struggling not to think about porn. When I'm in the shower I have to enforce a rule that only 3 seconds total of washing my groin is allowed. This diagram of male vs female showering practices is extremely relevant and amuses me. :)

Obviously I can't stop taking showers or I would smell. So I just have to deal with it. Do any of you have triggers that you run into on a daily basis that you can't really avoid?

I often find being on NoFap a bit of a trigger for me - obviously I'm not gonna stop using it but often when I'm talking about myself and how I've struggled and the urges I've faced I find that that doesn't help ahahh.

Everything and nothing can be a trigger. What matters is how we react to it. Have an immediate emotionally intense stimulation, or use this as an opportunity to strengthen our value system and think about long-term fulfilment. Master that decision process, and you are a huge step closer to a healthy life.

For me is cold days. Shower and bed time don't trigger me that much now. Emotional fluctuations can be one of the hardest to overcome

Whatever your trigger is rest assured it starts between the ears.... lots of times its SRUDs... seemingly random unrelated decisions. I'll just look at my email, I'll just take a peak at Miley Cyrus kissing another woman. This is wear my boundaries kick in. I can't go there... If I do, I know the results. Mine is stress related, but that can cover a lot of things, money, work, friends.

You can't avoid showers or natural body functions, but you do have the power to control your thoughts. The mind is the battlefield.

My biggest triggers are loneliness and boredom.
Counter to loneliness-> I will call up a friend
Counter to boredom-> I will read books, play games, watch informative youtube videos (like TED talks and other important stuff) etc

But i wont let this thing affect/control my life anymore.... its great seeing so many people sharing thoughts that i myself had...
    Thanks everyone !!
