Educate and analyze. Make a comparison mind map, that shows two sides: IF I do it / If I don't do it (each side benefits and disadvantages). And see how much benefits you will have if you give up PMO. Look at this chart every day to get you motivated. Read about the benefits and the downsides. Don't read the benefits of fapping, because it's all just an excuse to do it, not real benefits except the 10 second pleasure.

Hype yourself. Think about the benefits of NoFAP every day and analyze it. Get yourself hyped up always, not just once. Especially when it goes 5 - 10 + days, it's most important to get hyped, because it will help you. Always remind yourself and look at the mind map you made, to see what you will lose if you do it.

Escape the edges. NEVER say in your mind when edging: "ARGH I'm EDGING ALREADY, LETS then' just do it, what does it matter anymore." You must RUN away, even when edging. I had to force myself out of several edges during 10 - 30 days. It was literally 10-20 seconds before relapse. You must get used to force yourself to break out of edging. This way you're going to build up your mental resistance muscle.

Eliminate triggers. Analyze the sources of triggers. Eliminate all of them. Blockers, Adblockers with custom-made (right-click block) filters, disable Youtube recommendations and use Subscription Homepage extension, to avoid the recommendations on the Homepage. Clear address bar history to avoid fast address filling.

Fill Your Mind; Be occupied. Find something to fill your mind with (books, skills etc).
Usually, a job is the best thing because it makes you tired and you're occupied all the time. If the job is monotone, then you must listen to some podcasts or lectures during your job, so that your mind doesn't get bored and start fantasizing. Boredom and idleness are one of the biggest enemies.

Enhance your diet and improve your character.
Throw out all the junk food and learn to eat real food, because it really affects your mind and ability to decide and choose in a moment of temptation. Also, it helps you to abstain from the things you are addicted to from food and it trains the abstinence muscle.

You can even buy something you like and put it in visible space, and try to not eat it as long as possible so that you train yourself to abstain. IF you give in and eat it, then limit yourself to a small amount, so that you can stop yourself and decide that you are the boss, not your desire.

You can also train this "muscle" by doing things you don't want to or abstaining/limiting from doing what you want.

Day counter. Put on a day counter somewhere you can easily see (there are extensions on the browser). Make it into a game, so that it motivates you and you will not want to lose the days. It's a small thing, but a big motivator.

Never look back. Don't think, I will do this just for 40 days, and go back. If you think like this, you haven't fully realized the first point of this guide. It's all long term.

Realize that only you can do it. No one will do it for you. It's all up to you. You decide if you break out of your inner animal and become a human or you stay an animal. There is no magical way out. You must break the cycle and be free.

If you fall, get up and try again. This is one of the most important things. When you fall don't waste your energy on bullying yourself. Spend that energy to think about why you failed and how you can avoid it next time. Make yourself a war strategy. Analyze, realize your weakness, improve, and put on the defense systems in the weak spots. If you hit yourself and put yourself down, you just make yourself weaker and it's useless and will never get you anywhere. Be smart.

I know what edging is sexually but what do you mean by edging? I'm not doing ANY masturbation during my rebooting phase. For me, it's no porn, no masturbation, and no orgasms. One thing I want to do with this time is learning that having sex isn't about the orgasm. It's about connection and sharing love with someone. While I'm definitely NOT going back, I can't set a big goal like 90 days. So I set small goals and then reassess then commit to keeping moving on it. So for me, I'm going to keep doing this until October 31st and at that time, I'll reassess and keep going to November 30th and then set another goal after that. That's how *I* succeed. I've also decided that in place of porn and fapping, I'm going to get into reading some interesting books. I like self-improvement books and political books.

By edging I mean, when you are tempted so much that you can't even control yourself and start M'ing and almost finish it, but you fight and stop and run away from that situation.

I don't mean to be arrogant but I am so committed to my journey that I cannot and will not be tempted so much that I can't control myself. That is a false narrative your brain is telling you. Being tempted so much you can't control yourself? Nah I can control myself and I've been plenty tempted while working on blocking all porn. I was on Instagram the last few days trying to unfollow those who post provocative pictures and while doing it, I saw quite a few of those photos but *I* am in complete control. That is how committed I am. I will admit there have been a few times that I thought about M'ing but I avoided that and kept moving. I know that just one time might unravel all the progress I've made. I refuse to let that happen. For me, it's early in the journey so we'll see when I'm further along. I have decided to take a sabbatical from Instagram for the rest of 2020. I'll try to clear all the temptations from Instagram in January.

That probably works best if the person is someone you know in face, because there is more shame, but one must use whatever works.

  7. I will add some of my favorite tips:

Don't trust yourself to be rational in the first couple weeks. Any decision that takes you closer to PMO, but doesn't actually involve PMO, is still a bad decision. Don't click on the youtube video with a clickbait thumbnail. Don't google attractive celebrities just to see what they look like. Don't isolate yourself when you have been having urges.

You need to suffer through the hard days. If you cannot do this, then you will relapse at some point. The days where you cannot focus on anything because your brain has been hitting you with nonstop urges are the days where you will make progress. If you resist on these days, your willpower muscle will get stronger.

Start with a month. 90 days will happen eventually, but you need to be patient. For me, the urges started dying down after a month of hard mode. Then I didn't really have to focus on NoFap, it just became automatic. There will be a day in your streak where you realize that you don't have to try anymore, and this will make you feel unstoppable. It does not take long to reach this point.

Build self esteem. If you do not have a good image of yourself, you will be more likely to reinforce this by relapsing. The number one way to build self esteem that I recommend is exercise. Anything with visible progress will work. Do small things every day that you can be proud of. I try to do a few Duolingo lessons a day, practice my instruments, and stretch. These are all things that will lead to progress after a bit of time, and that progress will motivate you.

Personally, I think these 4 rules alone will get you to 90 and beyond, as long as you stick to them.
