Is watching porn one minute considered a reset?

I watched porn very briefly this morning, and I agree that it's a reset. I closed the browser and went back to work, but I still had the dopamine rush, and I'm sure that, neurologically, it wasn't helpful.

On that note: any advice from some of you more experienced guys about what to do after this? I'm stuck with this back-of-my-mind feeling that something's unfinished (because no M or O; no arousal either) and I'm worried about a full relapse later today or tomorrow.

For me, any intentional viewinig is a relapse.

So if a popup comes in or there's a scene in a tv or movie I don't know is coming, i can close my eyes/close the window and be ok.

However, even just the intentional opening of reddit or downloading the app or something like that is a hard reset/relapse/

I saw a sex scene during a movie and didn't close me eyes. Is this a reset too?

The more strict you are with your own set of rules, the better off you'll be in your recovery. When you start allowing this stuff back in, you will inevitably end up where you started.

When you watch porn for one minute and say "Ah, that doesn't count though" you just justified watching porn to your future self as well. "As long as it's less than a minute, I'm ok". And you will slip farther and farther towards full relapse, because you'll keep allowing just a little bit more. In my opinion, as you get farther on in your recovery, you need to set even stricter standards than you began with, so you can keep yourself as far away as possible from it.

For a porn addict, surfing the web and finding the right video is a part of the high you get from porn. It’s not just at climax. It’s the rituals you practice leading up to it. The thoughts. Your location. Your mindset. It all matters. 1 minute of intentional porn watching? Yes it’s relapse. You stumble upon porn and you watch it for one minute but snap out of it? Not necessarily a relapse but be very careful and very vigilant afterwards. Best of luck brother.

No, I didn't even expect there would have been a sex scene.

Actually didn’t know “just watching” was an official reset until reading some comments here. I have to agree. You’re either taking abstinence seriously or you’re not. There is no good going to come from “just watching”.

That gets to something I need to work on, which is p-sub. Is seeking out something not really porn, but still sexy like a film where you know there’s going to be a nude scene or bunch of beach shots a reset? Not porn, but you’re still seeking sexy stuff, no matter. Same idea. Like an alcoholic who usually guzzles a fifth of gin a day thinking he can get by because he’s merely sipping wine.

Of course, we can’t avoid sh*t. It’s everywhere, but huge difference between coming across it and having to catch yourself because all of a sudden you’re gaping at it in an unguarded moment, and tooling around looking for it. That’s where I really have to make sure I’m not lying to myself.

I really have to keep working on this all the time. I always point out I’m an addict with a 25 year record of failure, so maybe the last guy to come to for stellar advice. I can tell you one thing I’m an expert at though, because I’ve obviously got the experience, and it’s just that: failure. So no hesitation in telling you: If you look at sh*t, that’s where you’re headed.
