What I can say is this: You see it from the wrong perspective. Of course I am also catching myself in that escapism modus from time to time and its probably not good to binge watch animes. And it is surely not healthy to watch the same episodes 5 times in a short periode. But you have to distinguish between wasting time infront of the screen or following your hobbies. Watching Animes is a hobby, if you have not chosen PMO triggering animes like Highschool DXD or UQ Holder its all fine. :) Of course you can choose not to watch animes and do something else. But when you know: Watching animes is something you really like to watch, why are you punishing yourself by forbid yourself to follow a hobby? You can train Mindfulness in all aspects of life. For example mindful watching. When you are mindful enough you will know when to stop. If you are tired or have a strict time schedule for example learning more languages or do more work for yourself. Follow it and stop continue watching. I see anime also as a therapy for the only moments of my childhood which brought me happiness and joy. It is nostalgic and awesome to be able living in a time when great anime contents exists. I am really surprised how good Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is or recently I have watched 10 episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen,....Man this was the best I could watch for the last couple of days so far. And I have also watched Attack on Titan. The 4th season has already started in japan I guess.
And I will definetly watch Evangelion. I live again my lost childhood somehow and all the good old memories what was linked to that.
I also would like to go to Tokyo especially to Akihabara someday. Don't be that strict. It has no meaning to follow a forced habit what you dont really like. If you want to do useful stuff do it, but this doesn't mean you have to cut off all fun things. Life is not always about pain and work.

It wasn't the same episode 5 times, I watched 5 episodes, but all of them I had already watched before. Sorry for the mistake. I agree that anime is healthier than PMO, but in my case anime usually makes me feel socially awkward. I also agree with the mindful watching. Just stopping would be another kind of escapism: escaping from the task of being able to enjoy this hobby and to continue to do the other things I have to. That is, to have self control. But in the same way that I think PMO is too hardcore for anyone being able to have control over, I think anime has a great emotional charge for me. I'll try to exert that control so I can watch this last content is being produced for Evangelion and AoT (also I watch one called Fruits Basket). I just don't think I should keep encouraging myself to dive in these worlds.

You wouldnt say that if it was drug related. Thing is Anime if you binge watch in short bursts and dont have weeboo issues, it doesnt degrade your life too much, compared to gaming disorders related to grindy games, anime is much less of a grind, the episode will showcase itself to you, you dont even have to go downwards with the mouse like when reading a chapter of a comic/manga.

I'd still say to drop out any hopes on modern anime, wrap up the series you are into for years, call it a day once they are done and stick only to retro, the sexual deviancy in manga/LNs have increased in the modern setting and I can assure you that'll translate into further anime seasons, but I wouldnt be surprised if by next decade we could see some good new shows.
