So, I am a few days in without pmo. Already I have noticed positive physical and mental effects. However, I have had severe trouble getting a good night sleep whithout pmo. A part of my brain is telling me to relapse, which may help me fall asleep. I realize that in the past I have relapsed due to similar thinking. My last relapse I felt that nofap was making me angry and pmo would control my anger. However, when I relapsed I was ultimately angrier than before. I would like to hear if any others have similar experiences regarding insomnia from nofap and how they overcame it. Thankyou. I just don't want to relapse before the magic happens.

Hey man, all of that is called 'rationalization', where your brain tries to trick you into PMO'ing with all kinds of excuses that seem incredibly logical and reasonable. They are lies. Your brain is not looking to help you, it is addicted to the dopamine of PMO which, as you know, will only make things worse. I've always heard that if you can't fall asleep, you need to get up and do something until you relax. That could be reading, doing a quick set of exercises (pushups, crunches, jumping jacks), or going for a nightly walk. Your body will soon get used to sleeping without your "medication". You may feel better short-term, but no amount of P or M will help you in the long-term. You will ultimately, as you described, feel worse. You always have the choice, to give in or ride it out and direct your attention elsewhere. Good luck, and don't give in!

Also, here is a link to yourbrainonporn.com which discusses the withdrawal symptoms of recovering from porn addiction, including inability to sleep and anger:

I have no experience with this and PMO, but I did have it with anger. I was fuming over something earlier that day, I couldn't sleep, I was just so mad and there was no getting past it. After tossing and turning, trying to deal with the anger and be okay with what happened, (which I realized later wasn't a big deal) I finally got out of bed and did pushups until I had worked out all the energy, and then I went to sleep. I agree with struggleasaurus, you need to do something other than try to sleep until the urges pass.

Okay thankyou guys I managed to make it through another night without pmo. Ya I didn't get the best night sleep. But I realize we do have to make small sacrifices. I am so grateful that I did not relapse today or yesterday. The amount of energy I have been gifted feels awesome. Thankyou friends....
