    Hey xXsinnerXx,

Thank you so much for this incredible work and for sharing all this with us! It's amazingly thorough.

I'm using Mac OS X and trying to install the setup with Forticlient + Pluckeye + DNS. Currently at the beginning of the process and installing Forticlient 6.0, but I never seem to even see the Malware Protection tab as appears in the tutorial pictures - when I open the console, the only tabs I see are 'Compliance & Telemetry', 'Vulnerability Scan' and 'Remote Access'. Is this normal? I didn't get given the option to select which features I wanted when I installed it - how do I enable web filtering?

    Thanks for bringing this up.
I have been editing the images yesterday.
It seems that finally Fortinet responded to our request to unblock youtube, so I was editing the tutorial and haven't completed it because I was working on a way to prevent removing forticlient easily.
I have just fixed the album, you could check it out.
Could you please test youtube to make sure comments are loading properly as that used to be a problem with forticlient.

Thanks so much - that clarifies things a lot.

Forticlient blocks porn now, but YouTube restricted mode is still locked on. Comments don't show, and can't even access videos judged 'restricted' by its algorithm (including SFW videos about the news, philosophy, politics etc). Do you know how to change the settings so this doesn't happen?

    Updated it.
Did you download forticlient from the link I posted?

Also, I'm trying to add sites to the Forticlient Exclusion List, like Instagram, which I would like to block, but doesn't work when I set the site to 'deny'. Can't figure out why yet.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I did. OK, now things have taken a bizarre twist. YouTube restricted mode has been turned off. But now the baby has been thrown out of the bathwater and porn sites aren't being blocked at all. And yet Google Safesearch is locked on, so *something* seems to be happening. What could be going on here?

I tried the WiFi trick, but I still can't seem to get it to block 'deny' sites on the Exclusion List. Even after rebooting the computer.

EDIT: We're getting there! Porn sites seem to be blocked again. And YouTube is still open. Google SafeSearch is still locked on when I use Chrome, but a simple workaround seems to be to use a different Google URL, like google.co.uk. I guess that's why I need to supplement it with DNS and PluckEye? And still can't add sites to the block list.

hey man, to be honest forticlient on OS X is not as good as the windows version. Don't expect a lot from it. It's good that you got it to work. There are many other programs that you could use to block custom sites like pluckeye and cold turkey. I haven't mentioned coldturkey in the post because it still needs a good block list.

About the safe search. I will try to post a version of fapsecure for OS X which should enforce safe search on google and block all other search engines.
Also, I am testing a script to protect forticlient from being deleted.

Thanks so much man. I'm still going through your original tutorial and following the other steps for the Forticlient + DNS + Pluckeye solution, and already with Forticlient and DNS installed it's sealed some of the loopholes. I still need to install pluckeye though so I can block custom sites, but this solution is already great - I'm switching from Qustodio because not being able to access a lot of interesting content on YouTube and not being able to read posts on Reddit was incredibly frustrating, and I need image search and YouTube for my job so using the default PluckEye 'no images' route wasn't a solution. Your work means a lot!

Btw, adding Cleanbrowsing as my DNS seems to have blocked the safesearch loophole. Multiple layers FTW!

Glad you found it helpful man.
About that, do you mind if images and videos got blocked on reddit (and twitter) because there are a lot on NSFW content there. Or is it annoying?

I'm not a heavy Reddit user so it isn't the most annoying thing on the world - to be honest the most important thing for me is what people type. Previously I had totally blocked it, so it's refreshing being able to read discussions. YouTube was a bigger deal for me, because Restricted Mode makes my job really difficult. I mean, I can't see a way to completely avoid NSFW content on Reddit and Twitter otherwise...

    Same here.
I will post that app soon which will let you use cleanbrowsing family DNS and at the same time youtube will be unrestricted.

I found an easy way to block acess to some websites.

When you go to your c drive, windows, system 32, drivers, etc, then you open up the host file with notepad, you can enter some websites that you want blocked.

I was able to block instagram, pinterest and bing( And even force safesearch). The only problem is I can go back inside the folder easily and revert everything back to normal.

There was a program that could keep the file read only. But I can't remember its exact name now.
Have you tried pluckeye? It does the same thing. Just finish reading the rest of the tutorial.

Testing chromeOS filters is on my todo list.
A popular way is to use Google Admin Console to Force-install extensions.
    Check this out:
    https://help.goguardian.com/hc/en-u...rdian-Extensions-for-All-Products-Super-User-
another good extension is this: (it was recommended by others. I haven't tried it yet.)
    https://support.securly.com/hc/en-us/articles/217942068-How-to-install-the-Securly-Chrome-Extension-

You could do it for any filtering extension you want.

Let me know, if it's effective.
