Probably there's no way to not offend someone with this so I'll just say it's not my intention.

I'm from a place where mental health doesn't exist. Perhaps if it did I would have been diagnosed with autism. I have all the signs.

Anyway, ever since I've been doing some progress with noPMO I have started to change. I didn't notice it while in lockdown but last 2 days I've been at work and the difference is massive. My mind is much clearer so I can understand what people are saying, I don't have meltdowns, my oversensitivity to sound has greatly decreased, I'm plainly smarter, I don't get so anxious I start having trouble thinking, I can plan things instead of struggling with dealing with issues in the moment...
Ok, probably super basic things for most people, I don't know. My question is, is autism really a disease or is it an unfortunate side effect of porn or other kind of addiction?

    To clarify:
    - disease not in the sense of a regular medical issue, but at the moment it's considered genetic and not gained,
    - it's possible to make 2 year olds addicted to many things, I was,
    - even if addiction is not the cause, can recovering from it help people with asd improve their symptoms?

Any chance someone with asd has tried recovering from pmo addiction or is willing to? I'm curious about it.

Sure, that's a possibility, I mentioned it in my question although the chance of me not being autistic is really low.

I might have left out too many things about myself. I see your point but sadly it's not that simple. Some things that used to affect me have gotten better but who I am is sadly unchanged. I don't ask people anything about how they are often even if they do ask me, I don't talk at all, if they tell me something that has happened to them I only have a generic response and maybe later on I remember what others say in such a scenario, I don't follow the rules that everyone seems to just know, I haven't had friends in over a decade and those were from school, I am too honest and can't seem to be considerate of what people might feel despite that fact that I don't want to hurt anyone, I have no clue how I feel, ever, although I am familiar with concepts like jokes, metaphors, comparisons, etc, I don't get them in daily talks, I just take things literally and if they are not expressed at such it annoys me to the point I even dislike common saying because they aren't literal, I do the same things in the same way, I eat the same thing daily, I avoid eye contact, I have odd interests, I can stay focused on something the entire day even forgetting to eat, I am still sensitive to sounds and smells although this has improved. I can't see things that many, that are of a larger picture but I notice details that others don't, I can hear things that others can't unless I bring it up, I have trouble with people touching me, sometimes I can't do anything because I feel I need to plan a step before that but then there's another thing I should do before it and it keeps going for a few steps...

I didn't want to make the original post too long but maybe this is enough about me now :/

  4. I've experienced a similar thing. There are lots of other factors, but this goes alongside them, and I've been thinking about this particular thing in general over the past few days. Good post!

    Thank you :)
I actually did set up a meeting to get checked for autism at the beginning of the year but it got cancelled because of the virus. I haven't tried again since it doesn't seem a priority and I don't want to crowd them.

  6. This seems like social reasoning. As such, probably a sign that you're not *that* autistic, if you are at all. ;)

Your score was 43 out of a possible 50.

Scores in the 33-50 range indicate significant Autistic traits (Autism).

Well damn, I didn't know these online tests are actually reliable :/ Thank you for the link. Until now I only thought of being autistic as a possibility only.
    Somehow still surprised :/

it's very difficult to be diagnosed as an adult for lots of reasons, but I hope these links help. yes the test are reliable and are organised through research facilities that focus on autism.

Thanks again. I'll go get tested sometime but somehow this offers some peace of mind. I've been wondering for years if I'm autistic or insane.

it is difficult to determine if an adult is on the spectrum of autism- there is a thing called masking - where adults have learned how to react to a given situation. its not impossible though and it may help you to know and understand more about it all, if that is indeed what is the issue good luck . tc

I thought I had some kind of autism myself, turns out I was just HIGHLY addicted to porn, my confidence sky rockets when I don't do anything for a while, maintaining eye contact isn't a problem anymore etc, I hear it's quite painful for autistic people.

I think time will tell buddy, just trust in the process, you may just be extremely introverted and too addicted, like I was.

I don't think Autism has much to do with porn addiction.

Dont get me wrong it might make it much worse but as a man with Asperger's syndrome myself I was still suffering from it much before porn even came into my life.

absolutely agree there. i posted that link to a member who was considering his own position. this information is freely available on line and i dont think atet any connection between pmo and autism spectrum is being suggested. best tc

  18. For example i am pretty bad at Mathematics, never been really interested on it, but really good in History and philosophy, of course if you put a IQ test of Mathematics i will had a bad result, but let to genius some philosophy quiz and then tell me their IQ is high, that's not ethic!

Just a way to divide the humans and spread hate, competition instead cooperation. But is my opinion.

Sure but that test is specifically testing things troublesome in people with autism, it's not related to knowledge.
