Anyone know any good books to learn how to configure Linux distribution? I've tried Googling it but I got bombarded by so many books I couldn't look through the reviews to make a decision.

I'm familiar with shell scripting and navigating the through the command line but now I want to learn how I can configure Linux to my liking and how to configure hardware. Right now I have Manjaro Linux but am looking to switch over to a minimalist distro like Gentoo.

  2. Download the source, run `make menuconfig`, build, install.

If you really meant how to configure your distro/desktop environment/window manager then you want to take a look at the Debian/Fedora/Arch/Gentoo/..., KDE/GNOME/LXQT/..., Compiz/xmonad/... manuals.
