It depends on when you started to PMO, how long you've been doing it, and how often you did it. And some brains just recover from addictions faster than others.

I recommend keeping a journal, so you can see that you actually are improving. It's sometimes hard to see marginal improvements over a period of many months.

Today Im sat here laughing at the absurdity of PAWS, like literally the craziest shit. I wonder if I have another 18 months due to the relapses I had, that would make it all more absurd. Like Don Quixote said, he did 2 years, then after that had to do another 2 years. 4 years total time. Thats the reality of this.

Im like most guys here, been masturbating 1-2x a day since I was 12 (20 years), then had 300-500 sexual partners. That type of core personality trait isn't going away easily or quickly. It will probably be 3-5 years until I feel completely healed from sexual lusting. My recent relapses show this. I went 18 months with a single relapse, but when I slept with a girl, it was like I never left.

The interesting thing is during those 18 months I did feel moments of just feeling good. I think thats the key. You get to the other shore, where you sleep well, you shit proper, you dont have anxiety and you feel good as a default, and then the idea of chasing sex or porn diminishes

BTW I just want to say for those earlier in the process - life isn't perfect; I dont sleep great, I can be short with people, I feel like my body is constantly stressed, and I have a lot of bad days etc.

But life is manageable I can goto the hairdresser without having a panic attack like my first 6-9 months, I can go meet friends in a bar while might make me feel slightly shaky, doesnt give me huge panic. I can have meetings 121 at work without having a meltdown.

I wouldn't want to have to give a presentation, nor do anything to intense else it would send me into panic, but life is more managable then the first 6-12 months for sure.

The first 6 months was literally hell in every sense of the word

Because you haven't done that much damage to your brain and body, you didn't go to the end
there are guys who reach such a point that they are jerking off with a limp dick with no libido and no urges to porn
they experience a myriad of symptoms before even stopping
those guys need a year minimum reboot to rewire and reboot their brains

well, then you can continue with your porn use, when I was a hardcore addict I would open 30 tabs with 30 different porn videos
and there are a lot of guys in this situation

I'm gonna give you a preview but I'll make a huge thread, there's a lot of information to unpack
in a nutshell, chronic use of porn throughout the years take you out of that green zone putting your ANS in a flight or flight physiology, if you stay TOO LONG in the yellow zone you're gonna end up in the red zone
    [IMG]
once you're there, YOU'RE STUCK there forever unless you take the necessary measurements, approaches and treatments necessary to go back to the green zone (social engagement branch of the vagus nerve, parasympathetic autonomic nervous system)
dude.. this is gonna be a hell of a topic, it'll be a milestone for the nofap community

  7. I was in the red zone 2 years ago. Now I'm in the yellow...

I understand your point but as many people reported before: You can’t speed up PAWS significantly. You can make the process easier for yourself by doing the best to relax, keep a healthy diet but there are certain healing processes that just take time and your post somehow implies that you gonna be stuck in PAWS forever if you don’t ACTIVELY do something.

Leaving PMO behind which naturally forces you to face your demons will ultimately get you out of PAWS. I read so many flatline reports and PAWS reports from people using drugs and so many state that you will recover at a certain point and that it just happens out of the blue without any major lifestyle adjustments as to the 16-20 months of abstinence before.

We really have to be careful to differentiate between supporting our own recovery and the reason we still feel bad even after such a long time. One major part of recovery is the fact that the stress response of our amygdala is out of control most of the time. At a certain point your cortex will be able to override your stress/emotional response and then you reach back control over the ship. Before that you are literally a ship without sails tied to the waves of symptoms.

I don’t wanna imply that one should lie down in bed all day watching YouTube but there is a certain limit to how you can support your brain recovering. I tried everything and no matter my routine there a phases where I’m just waking up one day and feel so terribly miserable that nothing in the world could change.

Be careful with promises and solutions on how to get rid of PAWS. Helping with understanding PAWS is good but don’t overcomplicate things. I did this in the past and once you think you find a fix - I got proved wrong by my brain again.

This ain't about speeding PAWS, I'm gonna put a disclaimer in my thread, only those who are flatlining for 2 years or more will follow the instructions, if a heavy porn user is rebooting for 9 months or 12 or 15 months this won't apply to him

and there are guys who didn't even reach the red zone because of many factors, they are still addicted and keep relapsing every time, in this case, guys in that category won't need to hear what I have to say, I'm talking about guys who have already lost their sex drive and erections before even stopping and throughout their whole reboot they've had no urges and no libido and their dicks were pretty much dead

Btw, that's what I told the guy above, the one who kept relapsing for 2 fucking years without having libido or urges
this dude hit rock bottom and I told him he needs at least one year (minimum!), HARDMODE, what I'll say in my thread will absolutely not apply to him, in this case, he needs time and time only

  11. It seems that men who started PMO late in life do not suffer from PAWS when they leave PMO. It´s my Case. I started to 24 years old.

  12. Wow. Tremendous. I think it's too much.

30 tabs different ? Wow. Never never never.

Even though I want to quit pornography, it seems to me that I've never exaggerated like others.

I remember when I first met pornography. I was 24 years old. Very late compared to others here. And I started using DVD and VHS. The Internet came into my life after I turned 28 or so.

I tried to understand what you published about the solution but I couldn't get it right. It's complicated.

  13. Ok. Thanks for the clarification.

Regarding the flaccid dick thing even watching Porn, I tell you that I've experienced it sometimes, however, I have something to say about it:

I asked my brother once something about this. He's not addicted to porn, but, he does use porn sometimes. However, he told me that it is very normal that sometimes we watch porn and don't get an erection.
It depends on the girl or actress we are watching, it depends on the scene, it depends if the scene is in English or in Spanish (I personally am more excited about scenes spoken in Spanish because I speak Spanish, and I can understand the actresses' speech).

Don't you think this is sometimes normal even for non-addicted men ? (I mean the flaccid dick thing sometimes during porn viewing)

  14. But this is normal. Normal people always have all kinds of emotions.

We can't pretend to feel great every day of the year. No human being has that.

    Don't you think I'm right?

Yes, I'll break it down in a future thread, there's a lot to unpack

  16. Damn it. Who started at my age ? (24 years old)

I can't believe it. I have never been able to find in these forums someone who has started PMO from 24 years old on VHS and on the internet from 28 years old like me.

    no, we started in infancy

  18. At your age I just discovered nofap after heavy use of 3 years of pmo.

  19. You correct me if I misunderstood:
Did you discover NOFAP when you were 24 years old?

I'm currently 38 years old. I discovered NOFAP five years ago (at the age of 33). Although I never practiced it. I only knew about NOFAP from the news on the web. But I never believed in NOFAP. In fact, to this day I don't think it's useful. But that's another matter.

My question is who started using porn since they were 24 years old like me ?

  20. I see that here. Most of them started late.

I recover very quickly because I started late in life. The last time I did NOFAP I lasted five months and I saw very good results from the third month. It seems that the ninety days is for men like me who didn't grow up with internet porn.

Older men who didn't grow up using porn recover faster. I'm evidence of that.

I'm glad you've recovered. I've been looking at your publications and you were a serious case here. Luckily you're getting better. I'm very glad to hear that.
