I am one day shy of my two week mark. The previous few days (over the weekend) were more manageable and I enjoyed the time with my wife and kids. Yesterday afternoon I got hit with a wave of anxiety and waking up this morning I have been battling it again. I know this is part of the recovery, I know my brain is use to the dopamine and is trying to figure out how to be balanced again without it. But it is still a struggle. I am hoping to hear from anyone that is further down the road than me (30, 60, or 90 days). Just looking for encouragement, advice or anything that you would like to share with someone that is just two weeks in.

Thanks for reading and for any responses.

Don't give up man! The urges are only in your head. No one but yourself is forcing you to relapse. You must believe that you have the willpower to control your impulses and resist the urges. Remember that this suffering right now will lead to a better life in the future.
As for advice, here are a few pieces that may help you in your journey (from an old thread):
Hope this advice can help you man, and good luck in your journey!

You got to remember your WHY. Keep it close to you all the time, I created a ‘NoFap’ poster which included the reasons why I wanted to quit, the benefits of quitting & what I wanted to accomplish from quitting, every time I feel like giving up I give this a read and the urges are gone.

Visit this site often when tempted too, I’m at 211 days currently and I am constantly on this website because it is such a great website to help you during this time of change, surrounding yourself with like-minded people will work wonders

  5. If I can add my 2 cents, NoFap is good but it's best coupled with some ground work on your psychological/mental health. We all have underlying issues because we're all humans. Most people have more issues than they're aware of. Our current behaviors, including compulsive PMO, find their roots in our psyche. If you can fix that while breaking the compulsive habit, you'll be out of these forums in no time.

A good trick is keeping yourself busy with stuff that can give you some dopamine, either playing with your kids, making them a surprise / your wife with a dinner etc, it sucks when our routine starts getting boring and we start feeling like relapsing again

I felt pretty terrible around weeks two and three. I started feeling a lot better around day 30. I had more energy, felt healthier, and started running. For a few days I would drive up to this state park, run to a waterfall and take my "cold shower" there. It was great. Unfortunately I had a nocturnal emission on day 34 which I'm still recovering from four days later. Everyone's different and I might feel like crap again around day 40 or 50, but for me day 30 felt good.

Thank you for your reply! I am trying to increase my exercise weekly and hoping that will continue to help. I know I am on a non linear road to recovery and I just need to take it a day at a time and realize that there will be ups and downs. Thanks for the encouragement that things can get better.
