Hey awesome thread. I have suffered from some very bad sleep problems which I believe were due to PMO and relapse.

I spent several years where I was averaging probably no more than 4-5 hours of sleep per night, not because of staying up all night watching porn, but because of insomnia that followed every time I PMO'ed.

When I was younger I PMO'ed daily or 2x daily. I started trying nofap about ten years ago, and never had much success, but I would go for one or two weeks then have very bad binging periods for several days. I believe that my brain was suffering some kind of confusion because of the whiplash.

After a PMO binge I could go 3 or 4 nights in a row with 2-3 hours of sleep maximum that consisted of short intermittent periods of sleep. After about 5-7 days without PMO then I would be able to sleep okay again, like my brain was recovering and some fog was clearing from the previous week's binge. I went through several years like this living like a zombie, having trouble concentrating and barely able to have a conversation or even complete a thought at times.

I have read about the negative effects of even losing a single hour of sleep in a single night. I think I have caused myself some very bad damage. I am doing better now that I am finally on a long nofap streak. I also developed a nightly routine of relaxation and going to bed and waking up around the same time every day.

Just wanted to share my story since sleep loss is one of my main motivations for defeating PMO.

You've done well ! What time do you usually go to bed and wake up ?And what routine do youn use for relaxation?
The one I sometimes use is the back count from 100 to 1 and sometimes if it is really bad from 1000 to 1,for me they work every time i use em.

Thanks. I usually sleep around 1030pm to 630am.

My evening routine is about 30 minutes of reading or doing some relaxing activity like a crossword puzzle. After that I go to bed and usually fall straight to sleep. If I still feel restless once I'm in bed then I will do some deep breathing exercise, and sometimes also do the countdown from 1000.

Last night was good, I woke up around 4am but fell right back to sleep :)

  10. Count me in dude. I don't think I'll be able to sleep at 10 but a good 7 hours of sleep after 11 seems fine to me :D . First check in, tomorrow morning.

  13. Day 1 today. Trying to digitally detox, going to sleep off rn. I've messed up the cycle by sleeping late, waking up late and then consuming those missed hours of sleep by dozing in the afternoons/evenings. Just trying to get back in the groove. Sleeping at 11:30 today, had some work. First thing in the morning go down jogging and open up.
Sorry if my first few posts here are a bit long, just trying to write in what I'm feeling and letting it all out. Good night, good luck!

It's all good ! As long as you are heading in the right direction you gonna constantly improve . Try to figure out the correlation between the time you go to bed and the way you feel through the day. What i mean is do an experiment and one day go to bed at 8 or 9 pm and set an alarm for 4 or 5 am and see how you feel, take notes( maybe here ;)). Don't be afraid to experiment to find out what best suits you.

  17. Yeah I'll try that! I have my final semester at my University so sometimes I have a few last minute submissions but I still try to get a good 8 hours of sleep. I've noticed that whenever I stay up late just because I'm bored and wanna waste time, I wake up with body aches and like a cold. Also I mess up my sleep cycle.
Had one of those days yesterday where I had to submit assignments and it took me upto 11:30/12 I don't remember exactly but I fell asleep so fast after that. I have my vacations now, just going to enforce a proper sleep cycle now.
Day 2 checking in, slept well. Aiming to create a consistent and early sleep routine.

Thanks, although sometimes the quality was lacking I did put in my best to stay in bed and try to sleep during those hours and the impotrant thing is the quality of my sleep is getting better and better.I think its partly because of the regularity with which i go to bed. It's something of big importance to me and all the day affairs are done before 10 pm.It's that simple !;)
