Porn Blocker Software

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by LifeTransformation2017, Dec 28, 2020.

  1. I'm finally back after almost 3 years of not posting on this forum. It's been a roller coaster ride of starting community college, starting my first job, quitting jobs, getting fired from jobs, finishing community college, being hospitalized for mental illness and getting treatment for mental illness, and starting school at a big university. Those are just some of the high and low points and things that have happened over the past 3 years. Even though I haven't been active on this forum I've still been committed to NoFap and abstaining from pornography and masturbation. I no longer have any urges to look at pornography or masturbate while I'm awake during the day. The problem I've been having is going to bed with intentions of just sleeping through the night, but it turns into either masturbating completely in my sleep and waking up when I orgasm, or waking up, but in a half asleep state and my immediate thought is to sext with girls, go on a cam site and masturbate with a cam girl, or look up prostitutes to have sex with. To this day I haven't had sex with a prostitute. I'm actually still a virgin. I have however come close to having sex with a prostitute, but I always back out at the last minute. I recently was scammed by someone claiming to be a prostitute. I gave them my address, payed a deposit, and they never showed up. That cost me $150.

Recently I've been thinking something that might help is installing porn blocker software on my phone and laptop to block the cam sites and hopefully also the prostitute sites as well. I have three examples of different porn blocker services. They are Covenant Eyes, K9 Web protection, and X3 Watch Accountability software. Some of these services can even email a trusted accountability partner reports of any visits to questionable websites and for X3 Watch Accountability Software it can't be uninstalled or deactivated without your partner knowing. So I'm just wondering if you guys have any experiences with these services. If you do, are they effective? Are they available for both Windows PCs and Android devices? Do you they block out sites that aren't necessarily porn? Do you think any of these would be a good solution for me? Are there other porn blocker services that are better than the ones I mentioned? Please let me know. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Earlier this year I installed Qustodio and tried it. The problem I had was that as long as I new the password for my account, I could go in and change the settings and unblock the porn. So what I did was come up with a password that I wouldn't remember. But then I was still able to change the password by sending a recovery e-mail. So then I made a new separate e-mail address specifically for my Qustodio account, one that I wouldn't remember, so I wouldn't be able to change my password again. But then one day when my urges were uncontrollable and overwhelming I found another way to bypass my Qustodio account by simply installing a program that would allow me to deactivate my account without needing a password. No matter how hard I tried, I always managed to find loopholes whenever my urges became too powerful. And Qustodio wasn't the first internet block software I tried. So I gave up. Ultimately, I don't think they do that much good. They may slow you down and delay your viewing of porn, but if your urges get strong enough you'll always find ways to bypass them.

I've gathered some of the good blockers here:

This should give you some ideas when building your own blocking system.
