If i get an urge i immediately act out, without thinking too much,i can't stop my self from doing it.The problem is that i have to stay in front of my computer to study,so it is very hard for me to prevent a relapse. Some of you might say "just go for a walk" or "take a cold shower" or "do something else",but i cant get out 6 times a day or take cold showers all day.I get urges many times a day, what are you guys doing??,how you are not relapsing?

  2. So you’ve reached a very crucial point... You’ve realized what’s not working. Addiction has a way of gripping you during your weakest time and you have to be willing to do whatever necessary to fight back. Our brains are used to associating our environment with addiction, so what do you have to do? Change your environment. At the very least moving furniture around, putting your computer table in a more open environment. Maybe that means putting it near an open window or instead studying inside a library. If you don’t have a portable computer... get one, you have to be willing to do whatever’s necessary to fight this thing. Study else where, stay away from the internet before bed, and maybe even factory reset your computer if that’s what it takes. Fight on.

Same problem with me brother, I'm also a student and because of this problem a relapse a lot and feelings very when you relapsed and not have motivation for study ........ then now I started to play my fav sports i.e. football and I'm daily going for train my game and working on it and this method really effective for me and for me i relapse in night so i change my sleeping time.
Now For your problem i suggest you to ask your friend's help to set password in your device for blocker and i personally blocked all the adultstar which i prefer to see and also blocked all the websites which i know and put a handmade day counter and put on the wall and also make to do list this helps you in study.

I hate to ask this, but with that many relapses are you really taking this seriously and want to quit? the same thing would be asked of a smoker or an alcholic i believe. you don't need to study alone if it;s that bad of urges right now, geta laptop, it's worth the investment. Go to a starbucks, or any coffee shop or anywhere else with free wifi where you have to be around others and can;t be alone to study on pc. then once you have some small victories try a few days alone, then go back to public places again if you feel as if your going to fail. Continue this until your time alone without relapse gets longer and longer. yeah this sounds like alot of work and effort but if you truly want to be free a small price to pay, good luck.

The problem is that in my country are all public places closed (no coffee shops,no libraries,no parks, nothing),if i want to go out i have to send a message to a specific number and then go out,I can only go out for exercise,go to hospital,go to help someone,or go to supermarket nothing else, plus i have a laptop,i cant go out to study or go to do a hobby

well see if a supermarket around you has a wifi, many do, where there's a will there;s a way, and their are also some secure web sites that will lock porn and other sites out of your pc with someone else knowing the code. Ofc nothing is fool proof, you have got to decide how bad you want this and go for it, this is one thing you cannot somewhat commit to, but you can do it

  7. Adult ADHD medication can be helpful for impulse control if you are in that category. Also, antidepressants like Prozac will KILL your sex drive. Thats what I take.

    Hi,

The answer to your question actually sits within the first sentence of your message: I immediately act out, without thinking too much.

We each have habits and addictions that block us from moving forward in our lives. However we can't simply drop these old habits at the snap of a finger. No matter how hard we try, it is impossible to abandon a behaviour just because we choose to. PMO is an addiction. An addiction is a negative behavioural pattern. And a negative behavioural addiction must be re-written instead of deleted.

Those that suggest "going for a walk" or "taking a cold shower" are actually on the right track. Taking intentional action is indeed the right approach. But you must be "mentally awake" and in control to take the correct action. When you immediately act out without thinking, you are on autopilot. When you are on autopilot, you close the mental window that would allow you to change direction and avoid relapse. I agree, taking a cold shower 6 times in one day is a lot of effort, but with that being said, it is up to you to decide which activities you should employ to avoid relapsing. You should have at least 4 different activities you can move to when/if urges arise. My suggestion? Sit down and write these activities down. Ingrain each activity in your head, and when urges hit go straight to the activity of your choice, whether it going for a walk, reading a book, exercising or learning an instrument.

Re-writing a habit means making a change, and for a change to be effective it must be imprinted in our daily lives. In other words, you need to keep up these alternative habits until they become entrained and a part of your consciousness. You will know you have done it properly when urges hit you and you "immediately act out" by turning to your chosen activity instead of PMO. Is this change easy, NO. Does it take practice, YES. But re-writing an addiction like PMO will only allow you to grow as an individual.

The only thing which can prevent you from relapsing is company of people around you, be it friend, family anybody you can see talk or just listen. done be alone. It would never work for a long time if you are alone for a long time. Believe it its the compamy of people who can automatically pull you out of addiction. Please dont be alone. Act to change it and be full of life
