I went to a ED doctor/therapist, he confirmed my theories

    Porn does change the brain's arousal. He said he had 18-year-old kids come to his office that they have no issues with porn but with girls in real life.

    For a lot of men who have had issues, the first event may have been caused by a medicine, stress, anxiety, depression, or is simply your brain was not aroused, maybe because you watched too much porn, but now the issue is not porn, is mental and psychological. It's a vicious circle and a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    There may be nothing wrong with your penis, but is all in your head now, and have performance anxiety. The only way to "cure" this is to have successes and this is where boner pills come in handy.

    To use them, have successes and slowly taper off until you don't need them anymore.

    He confirmed my theory that the main reason the penis shrinks and you lose libido after quitting masturbation and porn is that the very same reason why you lose your legs or mobility if you're bedridden.

    What happens to a penis where blood never flows as in an erection? It becomes lifeless and useless. That's why it shrinks and libido goes down, the so-called flatline is nothing more than the result of not using an organ, just as if you stopped using your muscles or extremities.

    It has NOTHING to do with porn.

    Porn only changes your arousal response.

    So by you quitting porn and masturbation altogether, you're actually making it more likely for you to have ED issues now since your penis is lifeless and unused.

    This is why when you fap every day, you have no issues, when you stop altogether, the penis goes dead but reawakens when you "relapse".

    This is not limited to "porn addicts" is to everyone, every man who stops using his dick, the same thing will happen, plain and simple.

    So, is porn that is the issue here, so NoFap is actually a double edge sword

    It will make it easier for you quit porn and rewire your brain, but it will also make it more likely for you to have erection issues since your penis is now lifeless, the longer you go without masturbation, the more dead it will become

    "Normal guys" don't experience this, because they didn't watch so much porn that it changed their total arousal response, so they can still masturbate every day and watch the occasional porn and have no issues with erections as their penis are being used every day and their brain is not completely hooked and dependant on porn for arousal

    A porn addict, on the other hands, has become dependant on porn for arousal, for him to fix this, he will have to quit porn and "rewire" his brain with real women, the problem here is NoFap causes the penis to go dead so, how can you have successes if your shit dont work and is dead?

    Unless you use boner pills when you get with a woman, it may not work, even more so now that you're on "flatline", so now you have even more failures and more anxiety

    I've read of people being on this flatline for years, no shit, is like not using your legs, what do you expect, the penis was never not to be used

    Its like someone creating

    "NO WALK" challenge, lets all not walk for weeks and see what happens

    Thjat's what i was saying, masturbation without porn is actually good for you bc your body was made for that purpose, It is a documented fact that masturbation, even if only once a week done the right way, with no porn or images, by yourself or with another living person or sex with another person lowers a man's risk of prostate cancer, so by doing away completely with something that is very normal that alot on here trying to not do, your actually putting yourself at risk. Seems to me the object here is to stop using porn, not stop a normal bodily function and say the body is bad, I think the whole purpose of nofap has been lost in translation.

    How did you come to this conclusion ?

    Actually do not masturbate is a recognized strategy for sexual compulsion.
    Only a minority here have erectile problems, it's not the real topic of NoFap.
    It is a site anti porn, this is the only challenge here : No porn.

    The average man will have approx. 5 x 20-30 min nighttime erections while sleeping. Hence, morning wood. This is to keep blood supply in and out of the penis healthy.

    You can ask your Doctor and he will confirm. The penis does not go dormant and atrophy like an unused muscle group when/if you stop masturbating.

    There is nothing wrong with masturbating, there are benefits in terms of health when practiced in a safe and healthy way.

    The issue here with most guys is the addiction and brain rewiring you referenced. I can’t close my eyes and get rock solid without thinking about a porn scene, even then it is difficult.

    I need visual stimulation (porn) or manual stimulation by either myself or a woman to get it up. That is not right and that is due to what you referenced, unhealthy and compulsive porn addiction.

    So the key is to reboot your brain. Refrain from masturbating for 30 or more days, STOP watching any porn and in most cases, guys start getting turned on more by seeing pretty women around town or their girlfriend or wife in a new sexy light. Many guys start noticing harder and more frequent erections as the brain rewires.

    At the end of the day, everyone’s goals and results are unique and respected but obsessively/compulsively masturbating and/or watching porn is not healthy for the brain or body, that we can all agree on.

    Refraining from masturbating however, is not going to cause your penis to atrophy, shrink, or weaken, like an unused muscle. As mentioned before with nighttime erections and the penis is also constantly expanding and retracting (while in a flaccid state) all day to varying degrees mainly based on body temperature among other variables.

    Explain then why the penis goes dead and smaller in flaccid size on NoFap?

    I have yet to find any research that explains why this happens except pure broscience from these NoFap people. Science knows that if you stop using a muscle or extremities, it loses strength and shrinks in size. So, why would the penis, another organ, be any different?

    Sleep erections are NOT arousal erections, and that's the difference, right there. Sleep erections are caused by testosterone, not arousal. Why does the penis goes "flatline" then?

    I can get hard without porn, is not perfect, but just stroking it, eventually, it gets hard, I've tested this before, this tells me is not ALL porn, but also mental, emotional, psychological.

    I call it bullshit that all NoFap people want to BLAME their issues all on porn, when in reality, is deeper than that for most of them, in many cases, they have emotional and mental issues that affect their performance and erections, is not just porn

    Masturbation is actually healthy and humans have been doing it since we've been on this planet. Yes, porn changes your brain arousal and makes you dependant on porn to get aroused.

    But is the mental and psychological issues that led you to become very addicted to porn, plain and simple. And these issues play a big role in erection problems.

    Just quitting porn ain't going to fix it for everybody. That's a reality.

    Many if not most people will need some form of therapy and boner pills to have success, otherwise, what good is a nofap streak or therapy if you still fail in the bedroom? All it does is prove to you, that you are a failure and makes your emotional and mental issues even worse.

    This is why I call bulshit on all these nofap people being against boner pills. They serve a purpose and can help a lot for people with emotional issues

    Yeah, of course psychological issues and your state of mind affect your erections. I don’t think anyone here would disagree with that. Hence why pretty much every guy will have a moment when they are with a woman and will suffer from performance issues.

    So many variables go into ED problems. I can list a handful just off the top of my head:

    - Stress
    - Anxiety
    - Depression
    - Physical Activity (ie. being sedentary).
    - Diet
    - Alcohol/Recreational Drug Intake

    and so on. Porn addiction is but just one variable in many cases. ED of a psychological nature is very complex and individualized. Thus, it takes many approaches depending on your psyche and circumstances.

    The right approach would be to quit watching porn, stop excessively masturbating and make lifestyle changes.

    - Get 30 minutes minimum of exercise each day, even if it is just walking.

    - Meditate daily.

    - See a Psychologist/Therapist/Doctor if you have chronic stress/anxiety/depression.

    - Eat a clean and whole foods type of diet. Cut out processed/refined foods and sugars.

    - Quit drinking alcohol or only drink occasionally.

    I don’t think anyone here who has ED thinks it is all due to porn, I am sure guys realize there are other variables but porn is a big problem in a lot of cases as is excessive masturbation. It’s like when you find that one porn scene and it turns you on big time and you binge on it for two weeks (keep rewatching and MO). Then suddenly, after a month, it does nothing for you, so you need to look for something else, you become desensitized. Or guys who get addicted to edging to keep the dopamine rush as long as possible...

    I can’t speak for everyone but for me, I have a difficult time getting it up if I just lay in bed and try to fantasize. But if I look at my phone/porn, things get much better very quickly. That’s not right. Not healthy. Not good. I should be able to fantasize and get an erection without looking at porn. I shouldn’t be dependent on porn or a woman to get rock solid.

    There is no point in arguing because what works for one person may not work for another depending on circumstances and overall goals.

    There are also so many variable protocols for nofap.

    If you don’t believe in the premise of refraining from watching porn and masturbating or masturbating excessively (for a period of time), then that is your opinion.

    A lot of guys here have been successful with the reboot protocol to address their individualized problem.

    Whether or not you believe, support or try it is completely up to you!

    After NoFap, I am getting better morning woods and that too multiple times in night.
    Also found that penis becomes more big while MW.

    Without a study there is no definitive answer.
    However we do know that erections are healthy and the body even causes them to allow blood flow to the penis and perform maintenance.

    In my personal opinion, it would be best to have sex while doing nofap.
    You can practice no PMO, although the no O is a tough one.

    Using chemicals to get erections goes against the natural way imo and might hamper your recovery.

    So that leaves two options.
    Getting hard by thinking or touching.
    Both are a dangerous area when recovering. And I don't recommend either at the beginning.

    But if you are further along, say 180 days, and you are not getting erections, not even in your sleep( no morning wood) then I personally would consider trying to get hard once a week. By this time it should be enough to think about a real girl or to slightly touch yourself. And as soon as it's hard STOP. That way your penis gets it's maintenance.

    But these are my own musings, you have to consider this for yourself.

    It's also said that after a flatline your penis starts to work on it's own again. So it's up to you. But don't use it as an excuse

    I agree to most points made by @Bandido and @guy_87

    I would consider to be the good test subject for this as I do not drink,smoke or do drugs. Did my blood work everything came out normal homonal profile to lipids. Never used any SSRIs or finastrides like substance.

    I eat healthy high protein diet and no junk. I workout 5 times a week heavy resistance training.

    Yet, I got pied because my only vice and escalated to addicition unknowingly was porn from the age 12 and from 18 it became heavy use and by 21 I got pied,pe,loss of libido and broken refractory and I still do, despite my abstinence for the last 21 months from porn and 14 months from pmo.

    I feel I have lost the arousal template. Lost my arousal to imagination or women or even to porn.

    But I strongly believe that using blue pills would enable my brain to re establish the arousal to a women and then maybe to my imagination as well. Because jus before this long streak...I did a no masturbation phase while I was in relationship and I used blue pills which enabled me to have strong erections and I got arousal easily.

    So I claim the same theory as bandido.

    And regarding morning wood @guy_87 , guys who suffer from severe pied do not get mw as well.
    Nocturnal woods is mainly to keep the penis healthy. Like a check engine. Its been theorised by Dr. Matthew walker author of why we sleep.

    But when one does even get nocturnal woods. The tissue health is going to be affected and on top, nofap causing a massive flatline. Its going to be a self fulfilling prophecy.
    It might be not the case for medium or mild cases but severe cases like me. Blue pills and rewiring is a good strategy.

    Also, these days I have been only getting 60% strong nocturnal wood. And when i sometimes text a girl I start getting severe blue balls and lower abdomen pain(on rare occasions) I steer clear of having any sexual thoughts as i badly want to recover my life. Point is, my brain has completely lost its ability to send erection signals when am flirting with a girl or when am around real girls and I end up with that uncomfortable pain which has happened couple of times in the last 14months of complete pmo abstinence. Its jus my theory and my experience.
