Not Taking NoFap Seriously

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 24, 2021.

  1. I feel as if I'm not taking this seriously.

It seems like as soon as I start to feel better I immediately use that to rationalize a relapse. I say things like "Oh, see it wasn't really that bad after all." or "This one time won't erase all the progress I've made".

Typically, I relapse around day 7.... every time. Like clockwork.

I can't seem to convince myself that what I'm doing truly is affecting me negatively in the long run.

Not sure what to do, I'm kind of at a loss right now.

Treat Yourself Like Someone You Are Responsible for Helping. 2. rule of Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules For Life: recommand read.

As many people here have already said, adopting new different mindsed is needed in order to succeed. What would you choose? Instant pleasure or longterm success. Easy decision right? So why are we choosing wrong all the time?

Routine, habits, cold showers... All these work only if you understand that delayed gratification is much better than instant pleasure.

Believe me, I used to be like that. I once accumulated a 7 day streak which ended with me getting a gold at the district science fair, and I then jacked off to reward myself. Your screwed up dopamine system is attached to any worthwile event done as a reward mechanism. To break this link, think of it like investing. Why should all the fun and good times stop here? Fapping is a big momentum stopper and you need to keep riding that wave. For every good event that has happened, use it as a stepping stone to more good times. At the end of the 90 day goal or for however many days, it all builds a cumulative effect. I would suggest you to start journaling your successes as a way of record keeping your victories over PMO.
