I made it to 30 days but I unfortunately relapsed twice last night. I drank two beers while working on homework and then broke my rule of using my phone while in bed. I was initially using the Fortify app but then made the poor decision of peeking on Twitter (without signing in) and then went to a porn site. This relapse has taught me that I need to get better at urge surfing and changing my surroundings. I need to practice stronger discipline and not drink solo even if it initially seems like an innocent act. This is the first time I drank in a few weeks so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal and boy was I wrong.

I'm lucky to be in the career that I'm in but I can't help but feel that porn has held me back to some degree. I've thought on numerous occasions that I should be farther along and should have had a larger positive impact on the world by now. In reality, I've learned a variety of lessons and impacted a number of lives. There's a lot I want to do over the next 5 years and the next 10. Covid has forced me to adapt to how I will accomplish these goals and achieve my vision of future success. I need to maintain focus on not exclusively subtracting porn from my life but on adding meaningful changes to my life and the lives of others.

Relapses aside, I accomplished a few goals this past week including preparing and eating healthy meals, spending a day outside with a friend, continuing to work on grad school homework, exercising daily, and performing well at work. This streak is encouraging despite the relapses and peeks. I forgive myself for these relapses and acknowledge I need to be better at preventing them. I'm moving forward with new insights and a stronger focus on preventative measures. Gotta let go of PMO.

I did it again. I relapsed for the third time in 24 hours. I was at home doing school work and I just went full brain dead zombie mode. If it weren't for covid, I'd try to go to a public library. That's still not an excuse to rampantly PMO. I should've exercised or gone for a walk outside.

My goals for the next week include:
    • No peeks, no edging, no porn, no nothin'
    • No unnecessary tech use and stay the fuck off of social media
    • Submit grad school assignments early
    • Exercise daily
    • Plan activities and carry them out to fruition (while still being flexible and spontaneous to some degree)
    • Cook heathy food and eat it
    • Call friends and relatives
    • Read a damn book
    • Maintain motivation and focus at work
    • Watch the super bowl with friends and roommates
In case you can't tell from the profanity, I'm really mad at myself right now.

@sunn and @ZeroG You will be the heroes Gotham deserves.

@orionpax42 Anger can be a good thing. It makes you realize that while we may fall by our own hands, it does not mean it is final. In the moment, it feels like forever, but after the dust settles, your anger turns towards focus. It's funny, I have not been on social media in a few years, yet P has acted as an unsolicited alternative occasionally. It is these occasions that lead me to doubts, when they should show me a sign that says, DEAD END, so that I can turn, cut it off at the pass, and move towards better things.

I will be listening to the podcast and committing to more goals, your goals are fantastic by the way.

At my current pace, I should be able to complete 70% of my requirements for teacher certification my first year in a three-year program. Working ahead is good, but be careful not to burnout. Work with patience, do things slowly, and the final results will show themselves sooner than we think.

Update: I am now a part of the Bat mythos, I have reached the rank of Myth.

Do not let the number of days fool you, I have struggled and continue to struggle in my own ways. But I do not count the days, I make the days count. Keep fighting for what is right, you deserve that much. Stay strong, keep going, do not let your goals die.

  9. Hello everyone!

I'm a BIG fan of Batman, and I think joining this thread will be a good way to keep myself accountable.

My motivation behind doing NoFap (no PM in my case) is to channel all that energy into the goals I want to achieve.

Among my goals, there are 3 important things:
    1. To have a healthy, balanced, productive life
    2. To recover my relationship with my SO
    3. To improve "Gotham City"

I know the last one sounds pretty ambitious hahah, but let's just say that I want to become an activist and truly help my "Gotham City", instead of just passively letting the negativity within each inhabitant to corrupt its purity.

I believe we can all change for better or worse; I already went through the worst of myself, and I want to be "more than just a man."

I believe that by abstaining from porn and masturbation, I can restore balance to my body, mind and soul; and eventually, "Gotham City".

I hope my words inspire you, fellow Batpeople.

Don't forget the reason why we fall.

(PS: @Batty Belfry, please count me in haha :D!)

  13. Hello everyone :)

Something I'm doing to train my body is to do streches and push ups every day. I'm at 100 push ups per day.

I noticed that doing reps throughout the day, specially when I'm lazy or a potential urge could arise, calms me and reboots my brain.

I suggest you guys and gals stay physically active

    keep going!

I relapsed today after I peeked on Twitter when I was supposed to be working on grad school homework. I'm disappointed in myself but I don't feel as awful as I thought I would. Rather than dwelling on what I should have done to avoid a relapse, I'm going to focus on how I made it to 34 days free of PMO. This latest relapse has taught me I need to do some form of exercise no matter what right after I wake up. I was feeling sore while I was working yesterday so I held off on exercising this morning. From now on, I'll take a walk or go for a drive earlier in the day to keep my mind from getting bored and/or lonely. I'm grateful for what this relapse has taught me. I will continue to move forward with purpose and persistence. Onward to 40 days!!!

  16. @Batty Belfry, I request to be upgraded to the "Alfred Pennyworth" tier :)

I would also like to wish everyone to keep working hard on your sobriety. Not only for your status, but also for those who you can help with it. Gotham City needs us all to be in good shape to keep the balance.

All the best to everyone <3

  18. Hello fellow Gothamites!

Don't forget that the fight is never over, for we do not only fight against those who spread chaos and despair, but we also fight against our own inner instict that lacks the discipline to remain aligned with our ideal nature.
