I'm curious if people use this for their recovery, where they are more motivated by their conscience. I just watched one and while I do have reservations suggesting it for some since there are some blurred out images I think for me it will keep me clean for a long time to come.

I'm wondering what people think of this. Do you tend to not look at this kind of content at all, maybe once in a while and forget, or even watch it and are aware of it but still find yourself relapsing? If that's the case do you feel it helps for a while or what do you think happens for you?

It's hard to say how the one I just saw would land with you or anybody else but I'll mention it with some qualifications and mention of potential triggers. It's called Pornocracy, on Amazon Prime but note there are some scenes where they are on porn shoots even if they blur out stuff. It's definitely not for everyone at every stage of recovery because those alone may be triggering, or it may be a mix of good and bad in its net effect. In general I would say it is safe if someones recovery is at a point where it's on a more mental level than a sensory level.

I watched tons of them and I cannot watch porn with real humans anymore. I just think of all the stories I heard and I feel really sorry for the girls (I remember vividly one girl being really sick but still doing porn, and the other one chugging painkiller before a scene).

But even before that, "real porn" wasn't really a problem with me to start with. I watched it occasionally. Now I don't.
Sadly none of those documentaries help with 3D or anime.

That's interesting, because I wonder if some of us have completely different motivations for quitting on here depending on whether there's enough socialization. While stereotypical and I realize it's not all younger people rebooting so they can "get some" and STILL not giving a crap about the girl, it's a very different perspective from wanting to totally unplug from what's not real. It is possible that whether it involves actors or animation etc. plenty of people now are wired for sex that is not real, even if they are able to get into a relationship it probably doesn't matter that much then because hey, maybe the girl is also wired that way - after all some of them think it's cool to be in the porn industry .. until they've been in it for a little while.

  6. Holy fuck, this reminds me that I always keep a small porn documentary saved on my phone. I used to watch it every time I got urges and it always worked.

    Thanks for the reminder man.

Absolutely. Watching these docs last couple of days got me thinking about the idea of accountability. APs seems to be mostly thought of in terms of two people that just checks in about the behavior, but being aware and giving a fuck about the broader effect this has in the world is the foundation of another kind of social accountability. This kind of norm and expectations is what I would want in an AP group, even if you're not talking about it all the time or a lot there would just be this understanding instead of just the individual wanting to quit because of X Y and Z. There's also a kind of sense of meaning and purpose.

I found this kind of thing useful too in order to renew my resolve by looking at just how destructive the porn industry is. As you say @WHMvsPMO, to be motivated by my conscience.

The two that helped me were Gail Dines book Pornland, and this documentary:

But one porblem is that even very careful factual documentaries can still be triggering, so be careful.

  9. im now reading it thanks mate.

  10. I just bought it, i hate being manipulated.

I wish if someone can provide the Minutes where you should skip the bad parts.

  11. Just watched that Documentary.
I had to turn my face and block a lots of parts and skip it.

But it was a great documentary, it seems like big companies are using young people and addicts to their favor.

I feel sad for the P.Addicts and also for the Girls who sell their Body for piece of bread. It's really difficult...

I tend to read about it every once in a while on www.fightthenewdrug.org. They always have trigger warnings and everything on all the stories. They shed a lot of light on what actually goes on in the porn industry and tbh it's pretty sickening. It will make you want to stay away from it simply for the sake of not wanting to support that industry.

The link in my signature is a thread where me and others have listed resources like this as well. If you guys/girls find some and want to add to the list feel free. It's a good resource.

In my case, just read all the true reports about the stories of the victims in sexual crimes and the porn industry can help me shut down all the impropriated desires. Not all, but most.
I had once wanted to join in a porn-related career, but now I have more awareness.NO I NEED TO. May this doomed future won't come true.

That helped me with quitting and gave me a much needed rude awakening, but it also brought on a large level of shame and OCD related thoughts to feel that I had been in some ways "connected" to the P industry as an addict. That and also www.fightthenewdrug.com is a good resource as well.

As for a good documentary, check out "Brave, Heart, World" created by Fight The New Drug. It was an eye opener and features testimonies from every level of porn from those who were addicted, to performers, to those who were trafficked and to academic researchers. Watch a sneak peek of the documentary featuring one well-known former P performer, who speaks about his detrimental experience working in the industry.

The industry is vile and needs much needed regulation, and those people attached to it's addictive consumerist platform need much needed help.

  16. I'm really glad I spotted this topic, as I have not included this in my tools for recovery until now. I have only seen the trailer for the movie you suggest later, and I already know I need to be more exposed to the grim realities of this sick industry. It sure is an antidote to fantasy
