    Hello everyone,

So I have been looking a lot more internally since the start of this whole Nofap thing. Does anxiety and a heightened level of stress and overthinking result from excessive PMO?

I have always been an anxious mess, but since my first encounter with PIED which was about 2 and a half years ago, my stress and anxiety has skyrocketed. I pretty much lost all confidence in myself and spent my first two years out of my parents house in university worried about the dumbest things.

Will it go away? I have finally started taking this community more seriously and feel my mindset is in a much better place than even a month ago. I have relapsed about 6 times total this month, and 2 of those involved pornography. That is a huge improvement from the 3-4 times I spent watching porn on a daily basis. I am going for a long streak now, and am motivated a lot by this girl I am really into. I am also motivated by my goals to finish school (this is my last semester), to move up in the position I have at my work, to develop my hobbies, and to be consistent with my fitness. I feel like I am doing a great job and will keep going until I defeat this habit and mindset.

What do you think? Is this journey going to lower my stress and anxiety? My tendency to overthink everything? I hope so, this is getting overwhelming. I do not want to live the rest of my life like this.

(it is important to note that I am a whole lot better than I was a few years ago, and even just one month ago. I guess this answers my own question, but I would like to hear what anyone has to offer.)

I can only talk from my own experience, which while absorbed in a world of porn was also a life of constant anxiety. I'm lucky to have been away from it for a couple of years now, and thankfully the anxiety issues are hugely improved.

There may be other things that you also need to change in your life i. e. healthier eating, cutting out other unhelpful habits, more socialising etc. However, for the majority of us on this forum abstinence from porn is integral to the whole recovery process
