I made it to 30 days but I unfortunately relapsed twice last night. I drank two beers while working on homework and then broke my rule of using my phone while in bed. I was initially using the Fortify app but then made the poor decision of peeking on Twitter (without signing in) and then went to a porn site. This relapse has taught me that I need to get better at urge surfing and changing my surroundings. I need to practice stronger discipline and not drink solo even if it initially seems like an innocent act. This is the first time I drank in a few weeks so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal and boy was I wrong.

I'm lucky to be in the career that I'm in but I can't help but feel that porn has held me back to some degree. I've thought on numerous occasions that I should be farther along and should have had a larger positive impact on the world by now. In reality, I've learned a variety of lessons and impacted a number of lives. There's a lot I want to do over the next 5 years and the next 10. Covid has forced me to adapt to how I will accomplish these goals and achieve my vision of future success. I need to maintain focus on not exclusively subtracting porn from my life but on adding meaningful changes to my life and the lives of others.

Relapses aside, I accomplished a few goals this past week including preparing and eating healthy meals, spending a day outside with a friend, continuing to work on grad school homework, exercising daily, and performing well at work. This streak is encouraging despite the relapses and peeks. I forgive myself for these relapses and acknowledge I need to be better at preventing them. I'm moving forward with new insights and a stronger focus on preventative measures. Gotta let go of PMO.

I did it again. I relapsed for the third time in 24 hours. I was at home doing school work and I just went full brain dead zombie mode. If it weren't for covid, I'd try to go to a public library. That's still not an excuse to rampantly PMO. I should've exercised or gone for a walk outside.

My goals for the next week include:
    • No peeks, no edging, no porn, no nothin'
    • No unnecessary tech use and stay the fuck off of social media
    • Submit grad school assignments early
    • Exercise daily
    • Plan activities and carry them out to fruition (while still being flexible and spontaneous to some degree)
    • Cook heathy food and eat it
    • Call friends and relatives
    • Read a damn book
    • Maintain motivation and focus at work
    • Watch the super bowl with friends and roommates
In case you can't tell from the profanity, I'm really mad at myself right now.

I am now a member of Green Lantern Corps.! I still struggle in my own ways, but I take a pause and remember that my poor decisions stem from causes that are unfounded or based on worries or stress. Cut temptation off at the pass, make your days last.

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might
    Beware my power--Green Lantern's light!"

I relapsed today after I peeked on Twitter when I was supposed to be working on grad school homework. I'm disappointed in myself but I don't feel as awful as I thought I would. Rather than dwelling on what I should have done to avoid a relapse, I'm going to focus on how I made it to 34 days free of PMO. This latest relapse has taught me I need to do some form of exercise no matter what right after I wake up. I was feeling sore while I was working yesterday so I held off on exercising this morning. From now on, I'll take a walk or go for a drive earlier in the day to keep my mind from getting bored and/or lonely. I'm grateful for what this relapse has taught me. I will continue to move forward with purpose and persistence. Onward to 40 days!!!

I made it to 34 days PMO free during February and the first half of March. A friend of mine was in town for a couple of days and we had sex once, thankfully with no PIED issues. She and I just want to stay friends so I haven't told her about my issues with PMO and PIED. The chaser effect got me a few days after she left town and I've been struggling to get past it ever since. I had a plan to go for lots of walks to avoid urges but I didn't carry them out. I was able to surf through a few urges by hanging out with friends and staying busy. I made it to another 9 days clean this past week but I relapsed and started binging over the past 2 days. The Fortify app has been helpful for tracking my progress and I can see the downward trend of PMO despite these recent relapses. I need to remember "Progress over Perfection."

I've been negligent with coming back to these forums. I thought since I had a good streak going I could just focus exclusively on life outside of PMO. I now know while focusing on healthier habits is important, I also need to keep connecting with other people trying to get past PMO.

Here's a video I found relatable and helpful. Hopefully it does the same for you:

So far I've been completely clean in April 2021. I'm on a 12 day streak with no peeks or PMO. I jut got back home after doing some careful traveling. A younger version of me probably would have at least slipped up or relapsed while traveling but I was lucky to be with close friends and family during this most recent trip. I have to admit I was slightly tempted to stop at a few adult video stores along the interstate. There was a possibility that I would have to get a hotel room on the drive back and I was concerned I would relapse but thankfully I pushed through and kept clean.

I also recently got a covid vaccine so that has done a great deal to put my mind at ease. Hopefully this positive momentum will help me reach 40 days clean again with minimal slip-ups. I need to remember to be balanced about slip-ups and not be too permissive with myself but also not mentally kick myself if a brief peek or edge happens.

I'm excited and cautiously optimistic to see life get a little closer to "normal". My out-of-town friends & family and I are carefully making more travel plans. In the meantime, I'm going to keep exercising, working on grad school stuff, and try to safely hangout with friends more often. Thanks for reading.

  14. Today marks Day 9 for me. Over the past year, I have only made it past the 30 day mark twice. I didn't take my recovery all that seriously. I thought I could beat it all on my own. Luckily I now have an amazing support system and accountability group. Freedom is possible! We just need to put in the work and realize that we are not alone in this battle!
