Is this a good reason for stopping PMO?

What is everyone’s reason for trying to stop pmo? If one doesn’t know their reason for doing nofap, then they are probably not going to succeed at nofap right? Gotta figure out your reason.

As long as I’m regularly doing pmo, then I am literally sucking the happiness out of my life, right? Because when we use on a regular basis, it screws up the dopamine receptors in our brain. And that causes basic things in life we do on a regular basis to suddenly seem dull and none joyful. Makes life seem more difficult than it has to be. Is that right? PMO causes more stress and anxiety. Causes us to be more uncomfortable in social situations and to be more irritable than if we were on nofap.

From my experience with doing nofap, and all the research I’ve done says: one will be happier on nofap than they will be on pmo.

So I think my reason for quitting pmo is to just be happier and finding more joy in life. And if I’m more joyful, that will make other people just a little more joyful when I’m around them.

I also think it’s really hard to get into meditation seriously while not doing nofap. And I believe meditation does lead to more happiness. I would also like to jump deep into meditation, but that aint happening if my desire for pmo is out of control (which leads to laziness, which leads to not meditating period because then it feels like to much effort and a waste of time).

Is that a solid reason for doing nofap? Or do I need more?

  2. This is my reason for stopping PMO. Everything he described in this video is why I want to stop.

I think the goal of being happier and having more joy in life is great, so yes it sounds like u have a good reason. The best reason is the one that u truly believe makes the journey worth it.

You know the answer already man, go for it.

  5. Easy.

Because it makes me feel things.
It gives me back my emotions.
    It strengthens my focus tenfold.
It drastically increases my motivation for pretty much everything in life.
It lifts my entire energy level to new heights.
It makes my entire mindset so much more positive and life-loving.
It makes me feel on FIRE and in charge of my life.

I had a few "tests" over the past few months and years and the difference in all of these things is day and night.
And it now serves as my motivation to keep on track.

Other than that, I haven't really noticed any "benefits". But then again, I am in a pretty solid place, PMO or not.

I completely recognise what you are saying here. I’ve just had a huge relapse having had some of the best times on Nofap. The difference in how I feel is stark !!!! Everything is grey, everything feels harder, I feel depressed. I’m gutted that I fell. I know the next few days are going to be a struggle and that alone can be enough to make you relapse further.
I don’t want to be in that viscous cycle anymore so I am going to have to make the effort to scrabble my way out. I think this is why people struggle. When you are at your lowest , your weakest, you have to make the most effort and it’s daunting. The effects on mental health , your self worth , how you view/feel about yourself. All bad. What I have done, imagined and seen , it’s all there in my head and I can’t escape that. It’s hell at times. That is why I have to stop. Imagine being in your death bed and reviewing life. Just imagine that !!!
Peace , love and strength to you all

  8. Oh, they are! My last sentence shouldn't make it sound like they are trivial benefits.

Nofap raises the floor and lifts the ceiling for my entire life.

You said you don’t want to be in that viscous cycle anymore. That’s a start, because that’s what it is, a cycle. So what written plan are you creating to break that cycle. Yes, I said: Written plan. Like on paper. If you don’t have a written plan yet; a written plan that you go back to and tweak once every few weeks; you probably aint going to get far. Gotta have a plan.

That is a very good point. I have come a long way but no where near far enough. I have developed some very healthy habits that really do help But like many there are times when I think I have got this and there are times when I think I don’t stand a chance. I exercise regularly, in a good long distance runner, I’ve taken up drawing and photography and seem to have an eye for both and they have sparked a creativity in me that I never knew I had. I practice some breathing exercises and meditation and also I am a big fan of cold showers. No actual written plan. I need to do that. Physically writing it down is beneficial, I remember reading something about this. It cements it in the mind far more than just making a mental note.
