I know they’re both important to quit, but if you were forced to pick one or the other, which one is the most important to quit and why:

    Porn or Masterbation?

Masturbation imo is the worst, because it actually plays with your physical and mental health, your energy gets very low your mood too. Both are different yet both have big consequences on you

I would say porn. Without it, you're body acts normally and healthy. Masturbation/ejaculation is scientifically proven to be good for your health and without porn you wouldn't be doing it so often. At least I feel like that - I would say it depends on a person.

I would say both of them important because looking at porn is mental and masturbation is physical. That goes out sexual fantasy and masturbation too.

Both. There is a saying: only kids make a choice. The adults took both.

Both imo. i would lean into quitting mastubation as more important since that is the one that leads to porn and gets people hooked into crazy stuff but porn is bad too since it messes with your brain.

Masturbation if you are able to stop masturbation you will eventually, really fast as a matter of fact, get bored of watching porn without masturbating to it.

I personally think porn is worse than masturbation but I realistically tend not to do one without the other. So I guess I personally need to stop both. But from a moral standpoint (and this is just my own subjective bias) I think porn is bad and masturbation is a natural normal function but I've just abused that function with something artificial.

  13. I think quitting porn is more important as it skews your outlook on life and leads to abnormal brain chemistry. That being said, semen retention is also incredibly beneficial.

To me they are connected. I quit both as the same time because I feared that M would lead me to wanting P - would stir memories etc.

Eventually I will reintegrate M with set boundaries and such - but for now it's working so why change.

Porn is defenetly the worst thing on the internet, it messes up your brain so much, and fuels irrealistic fantasies about you and other people. Over masturbation can lead you to have low energy etc... but you can recover from it rather easily in my opinion, quiting porn is the hardest thing.

I don't know about which one I objectively more important but, for me quitting masturbation has proven to be more difficult than quitting porn. Hence, for me quitting masturbation is more important...

Porn, for me it is definitely porn. Porn hurts you, it hurts your relationships, it violently destroys most of the women in the industry, and it infects the way all women are thought of. Porn is bad.

But, probably because of the years I had spent masturbating to porn, I found that I could not quit porn without quitting masturbation too. @boyrose, you may or may not find that too.

Unlike @certain_someone I found quitting masturbation easier than quitting porn, and quitting masturbation made it easier to quit porn. Win-win! I have a couple of analogies as to why that might be (here and here).

But there is truth in what @FellatiousD said—it depends why you are here and what your goals are.

    Good luck.

  19. A lot of people tend to make quitting PMO a moral issue, and I'm not so certain that's a good way to look at it. While we are entitled to moral beliefs regarding porn, I believe it is generally more productive to base our decision to quit PMO on how it affects our functioning in life. This way we have a clear objective and measurable progress. Example: sleeping poorly before quitting, then sleeping well afterward. We cannot measure our progress so easily if morality is the only factor.

There are two reasons morality should be a primary concern when dealing with PMO.
    1) PMO does not affect your level of function at all.
    2) Your moral beliefs about PMO directly inhibit your level of function rather than PMO itself. For example, if you experience low self-esteem due to the belief that you are an immoral person for engaging in PMO.

@FellatiousD, I'm not sure about that. I think living a private life that is the opposite of your moral or ethical values creates problems in your "functioning life". One needs a level of disconnect to do that, and the disconnect is not good for you. I certainly feel much better in my functioning life now I am not a hypocrite about womens' issues.
