Addicted also to authoring one's own erotic stories?

I have been addicted to porn for years but also writing my own erotic stories. I often find that I struggle mightily to find just the sort of porm video which presses my buttons, which actually does help me avoid PMO because sometimes I just don't find what I want, but then sometimes I resort to writing erotic stories. Just for my own consumption. I rarely even store them, just the act of writing them is what I've been addicted to.

What makes it even stranger is I have a particular "character " I have devised, a female character, who stars in each of these stories and I usually write some variation on the exact same scenario. Somehow that constitutes enough novelty for me each time I have done it.

I often find it dramatically more thrilling than porn...maybe because an active imagination is more alive than a prerecorded video.

Anyway I think it is probably equally if not more problematic for me to be doing as it wastes my sexual energy just like porn does. Just felt like writing about it as I get the impression it is not common for people to be addicted to writing stories vs. Watching porn.

I was in a similar situation where I would create interactive html based novels on porn. Quite a few people used to play it, then I felt guilty about it and took it down. Something about stories that's more thrilling than just straight up porn. It's not any 'better' though, porn is porn whether it's authoring or watching. I've let go of this habit and you can too! It did take a few failures for me so don't beat yourself up when you relapse, just be understanding and consider the factors that may lead to relapses through journaling.

I say it's just as detrimental, fantasy is known to be a bad thing for people with problematic porn and sex use. It is not really any different from consuming porn through the eyes in some ways, it can be quite as graphic for our imagination is quite an amazing thing. I say try and keep it quits like porn itself, it is only going to hinder your recovery.
