Do I must reset my day counter?

I was really close to relapse today, because I searched for one porn video that I had in my memory. Fortunately, I shook myself and I didn't open it, but I saw its thumbnail. (I didn't open any porn website, but I just searched for this video on Google)
I'm mainly asking, if these a few views of this thumbnail could stop my brain recovery? Did it have any influence on my dopamine receptors'reboot? (it was not a high resolution photo, just a video's thumbnail)
I'm not sure if I have to reset my day counter.

In my opinion, if you didn’t actually relapse, you haven’t reset the recovery process. Therefore, you don’t need to reset your day counter

Thank you friend. After a few hours I came to a conclusion, that it was some kind of exam for me. Only one click separated me from the pleasure and I managed to overcome it. I still have some doubts about its influence on my brain reboot but I compared it to an alcoholic who only smelled his favorite drink but did not drink it.

  6. Depends on how hard you're going on yourself.
If I was you I wouldn't reset the counter but I wouldn't feel good about it. Be careful, lust is a nasty snake.

Yes indeed, it was playing with the fire. But I feel stronger now, because in that moment of weakness my goals turned out to be more important than the urges. I didn't reset my counter and my fight goes on. I wish luck to every fighter on their way to better life!

  8. Depends on how strict your rules are - your counter is only for YOU and no single human being on earth gives a flying fuck about your counter but YOU.

That being said, my own ruleset is so strict that I would reset it. I reset my counter if I actively fantasize about porn (or in my case: camgirls, because haven't cared about regular porn in over 10 years) for more than a few seconds.
If I would fantasize long enough to actually google it, that would be all the more reason to reset it. And watching at a few thumbnails yet even more so.

Dopamine gets released in anticipation of something you desire. So just by fantasizing, just by entering it in google and seeing those thumbnails - I am sure if you are perfectly honest to yourself, you felt that little blood rush, that excitement in your belly, that dopamine flooding your brain. Dopamine itself is not a bad thing, but it got released while thinking about porn, so old addicted pathways got strengthened.
The very fact that you even created this topic make me think that deep down you know this is true.

However, it's by no means a relapse. A relapse per definition requires binging - watching porn (or whatever gets you sexually excited) for a sustained amount of time, searching novelty etc.
This is merely a reset. But only you can judge what your counter should represent for you. Personally, I like my streaks CLEAN. But your mileage may vary.

I am not as strict as you are. Fantasing doesn't 100% depend on me (it just appears), so I don't bear it as a relapse. My goal is to reboot my brain and dopamine receptors and on my way to this I don't need to be 100% clear with anything what is connected with porn (Of course, porn videos and photos are out, but fantasing or thinking don't give very big deal to me)
But, yes, this is true what you said, I felt some blood rush, but you cannot compare it with a dopamine eruption when orgasm or watching porn video. I think, that little dopamine kick would delay my healing process for maybe 1 week, not the whole 30 days that I've survived and that's why I didn't reset my counter.
PS: Yes, my counter is only for me. I was only worry about influence on my rebooting.

  10. That's why I chose my words carefully and said "actively fantasizing" ;)
And going for a google search after fantasizing definitely qualifies as most active fantasizing possible.

I understand, however, that others are not as strict as me with their rules and that's fine.
