You know how when you hear something tragic in the world like a mass shooting, you feel sorrowful? That's not me.

You know how after using porn you feel guilt? That's not me.

Repeated long-term Pornography use has destroyed my conscience. Porn effects the brain by damaging the pathways that deal with emotion and the conviction of wrongdoing. Repeated use makes it feel so normal, you even stop feeling guilty. This can escalate to very dangerous behavior.

Serial Killer Ted Bundy contributed his pornography addiction to lead him on a downward spiral where his brain rationalized murder. I never want to turn out like this. I want to have a Conscience again, i want my humanity back.

A sobering interview with Ted Bundy before his death:

Quote from the video - "I'm not blaming pornography, i take full responsibility for what i have done but it contributed to help mold and shape the kinds of violent behavior."

Whether you are Christian or not, i am sure you can agree with this verse from the Bible:

"1 Timothy 4:2 - Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."

As we can see, the Bible shows us it is possible to sear our conscience.
One way our consciences can be seared is buy repeated Pornography use, and the only recovery is to stop using porn and let the brain heal. That is my goal.

If you feel you have gone too far like i have, it's not too late. Our minds can heal and we can have a conscience again.

I remember once, popular anti porn speaker Noah B.E Church talked about how he listened to something sad on the news once and he started tearing up, and this was after he quit pornography. His brain healed and he gained emotions again. That is my goal. I want to be emotionally effected by sad news again, not for the sake of being sad, but for the sake of having my humanity back.

Thank you for reading, i hope this was helpful.

  2. So you're telling us porn can turn us into serial killers. Pretty strong stuff.
I trust you have a scientific source for the quoted statement?

It happend to Ted Bundy, it could possibly happen to you in right circumstances. There is no study how common this connection is, but it should be rather a reason for caution. Porn is harmful anyway.

  4. We all know it's harmful, that's why we are here.
But it's easy to lump every bad thing together. Making a statement that porn turns you into a serial killer without any scientific basis whatsoever other than some religious quotes only serves to further discredit nofap in the eyes of the general public.
We're already the laughing stock to everyone outside our nofap bubble.

I don’t think we are a laughing stock at all. A lot of nofap is about personal experience. Because people’s personal experiences resonate with other, people find it useful. There aren’t many scientific studies which are flawless. I think the power of nofap is each individual story and perspective.

I am by no means making a statement that porn turns people into serial killers. I am showing the extremities that people can reach with a seared conscience. As Ted Bundy said, it was not pornography that made him kill. He took full responsibility for his killings. This post was more about what a seared conscience is like, and pornography is a major contributor to having our consciences seared but not in all cases.

it might contribute with specific people but also I think it depends on the persons personal story, child trauma and other variables. For a "normal" person maybe it wouldn't go that far to make them psychopaths. I agree with the conscience thing, we become numb to many emotions because of porn

There are studies that show that rape rates skyrocketed and even DOUBLED when the world was introduced to high speed internet porn...

So OP has a point. Porn can definitely cause one to act out his porn induced fantasies in real life.

I think the point OP is trying to make here is that porn by itself wont suddenly turn you into a sociopathic/psychopathic criminal or deviant, but it can desensitise you to such an extent that you are less fazed by things that would otherwise disturb you. I mean just look at how common extreme porn categories are now. Even a few years ago you would need to actively search for extreme, gross stuff, now it's more surprising if you dont run into some weird incest or BDSM stuff right on the front page of major sites. Repeated exposure to this shit makes it less likely to bother you, and can lead to escalation. Now most people definitely wont escalate to the point that they act things out in real life, but some certainly do.

I've read the transcript of Ted Bundy interview. He acknowledged his responsibility for his criminal activities but we couldn't explain what made a person who grew up in a Christian home could murder other people like this without the influence of porn.

Porn is like a wolf disguised in sheep's clothing. It entices you then later it makes you into its slave who depends on it to get the fix everyday. It changes your way of thinking and behavior in the long run without your awareness. And voila, you are a very different person before and after knowing the porn thing. Never underestimate the enemy of this world, Satan is the murderer and liar from the beginning. There is no truth in porn and it destroys a lot of people involving with it. Try running to God instead of porn and he will liberate you from it. God please help my friends who are still struggling with porn addiction.

There are good arguments against both porn and M but saying it causes stuff like that without any sources or just saying that there are studies that show "rape rates skyrocketed and even DOUBLED when the world was introduced to high speed internet porn" without even showing such studies only serve to turn people who would otherwise have taken this seriously away.

  12. I wouldn’t say we are a laughing stock. I’ve had conversations with people about porn and masturbation and most don’t want to say much. Most people are not proud of their habits

i reckon they don't want to talk to you about their sex life either, that stuff is private anyhow.

Part of our conscience is a voice that says "I'm ashamed of myself for doing this" or "I'm ashamed of myself for thinking of doing this".

You can't be ashamed of yourself if you have no standards for yourself.

Most people don't feel comfortable enough with porn that they can openly share their PMO addiction with coworkers, friends, family, etc. PMO addiction is considered to be beneath the official public standards of our society (even if few actually measure-up to those standards).

The story in pornos also violates public standards when it involves cheating, sex between siblings or between parents and children and that is only the normal stuff. Then there is the weird stuff which really violates standards.

So eventually that voice which should say "I'm ashamed of myself ..." is exhausted and says nothing.
