Societal views x taste in fiction (ANSWER THIS POLL TO SAVE KITTENS)

I have been unfortunate to witness several harry potter fans and the ravings of JK Rowling, so I much prefer LOTR despite only ever reading the first few chapter of the books.

Since Tolkien is a fellow South African I'm obliged to pay my respects and watch the movies in full. Though LOTR has always given a right-wing vibe to me, which is based af.

 

Explain the kittens saving and i'll vote.

 

Tolkien fought in WWI and The Hobbit was originally born out of a way to cope with the loss of his friends, with whom he heavily involved in crafting languages.

Where did you read about its hippie appeal? I'm quite interested in learning about Hippie culture, specifically how it was manufactured, and would love to read about how it appealed to them.

Harry Potter was amazing but i think Lord of The Rings is better because it got lots of Oscars should give it a go
