Actually the best next step would be to avoid using a phone as much as possible, not carry one as much as possible or go back to a flip phone or landline.

It's always better to make it harder for the NSA to do their work, but always have your cautions about the alternatives. For example duckduckgo is an alternative to google but it's also kosher. The same way bitchute is a kosher alternative to Youtube, They always control the main stream option and the biggest second "alternative" option.
