Constant thinking | No rest in my head.

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Jul 15, 2021.

  1. Hi there fellas.

So I played a lot of games and listened to a lot of music. So I am constantly thinking about stuff. And also I keep repeating music in my head over and over again. I think this is partly caffeine related. And I suppose I need to meditate more and stop music games and movies for a while to put my mind at ease?

First don't freakout because changing habits one at the time is the best way (obviously videogames first) so you won't get stressed and disappointed from the situation, unless you can drop both at the time if you just feel like without it being a challenge..

Regarding music I will suggest getting the "porn music" with alot of sensitive words out of your playlist (although I still find myself listening to some hip-hop but just for motivation, when I say bad stuff I mean all modern rap talking about drugs, money, and chicks.)

Don't put too much value in your thoughts. Your actions are what define you. Separate yourself from your thoughts. If you can't stop them, at least don't let them control how you feel and what you do. You will see, eventually, they will fade away and be nothing more that the leaves swaying in the wind.

You need a very good strategy to manage your mind. What kind of person are you? What do you like? I am one that dives very very often in my thoughts, my mental constructions and my ideas. The deep exploration of your inner world is the best attribute of a human-being. You need to keep your mind clean, out of dirty and useless things... Maybe we disagree here, but we all have different opinions - video games don't impact your in a good way. Try to give Wim Hoff's method a chance. This is a good modality to keep in touch with your body using your simplest and the most important action - the breath. Also try to read and listen to spoken things, debates etc...
    All the best to you

The best way to resolve a disheveled mind is to recognize that nature was built on elasticity, and even though we humans were given unfounded intelligence in a world of spontaneity, we can still bend the rules of intelligence. We can reprogram ourselves to our primitive core; we can get ourselves to see things objectively, to greet people without prejudice or interest, to work jobs and build careers without being tempered by basic impressions (lust, avarice, desire). No matter how trite such may sound, it is a truly remarkable quality of man that shouldn't be at all underappreciated.

The same is happening to me and I see it in more and more people with time. It's becoming really common.
I don't know about the music, I tried stopping listening but if you're like me you have been with it for many years now. I'd try dopamine detoxes and slowly cutting off the more overstimulation you can from your life. If you can go to the country then that'd be awesome too. There's no silence in modern life.

If you think the problem is the caffeine, why are you trying to quit video games and music? Obviously, you should cut the caffeine. Also, it says something in your profile about getting stoned? That could cause it too.

  11. Are the thoughts only repetitious or are you thinking through things, like all aspects of rebooting? So if you think it through you might consider how other habits interacts with PMO.

And don't just think "I gotta stop this and that" and come up with a list of stuff to stop, that's way too simplistic and not the point. There are a lot of things you can't completely stop doing but if you think about all of it in detail then you can see how it influences one another and look at what makes sense to control each thing. So no, it also isn't about amount of time.

Basically I'm talking about metacognition, thinking about your thinking process.

Stay away from drugs dude.. you don't wanna depend on them this isn't the right solution.

I also have the problem of constant thinking but I never put this in my list and never will.

    Overthinking is a real pain if allowed to go on for too long, it really pulls you down to dark places, I know it too well, to me overthinking was just a habit and the way I deal with mainly is by doing a different activity, so let's say I'm overthinking right now, I'll most likely do one of the following;
grab my phone and play an audio book, always works like magic,
put on my shoes and take a short walk outside, I get relaxed and stop overthinking
play a podcast while driving, all the thoughts go away
    listen to music sometimes
or even call someone on the phone
but for real though, the habit of overthinking goes much deeper, so just avoid it at all costs and don't allow it to go on for too long, it's really consuming you know?

Mindfulness meditation is obviously what you need to get into.
The whole point behind it is to not merely relax your thoughts but to put you in the present and connect your body with your mind. It's very simple and easily practiced. The book by Thich Nhat Hanh "peace of mind" will explain it all.
