First of all, congrats man! One month of no porn is awesome and it's great that you have no urges! Keep going!

Now, I do not really know if other than the fact of making progress as time goes by without using, you can ever tell whether you're not addicted or not anymore. If someone knows, I will be very interested to see how they measure it.

But I want to say this. After close to two years of nofap, I still consider myself an addict when I see a sexually provocative picture online or I hear something related to porn. That's because I feel the temptation to start searching for porn and it also helps me be on my guard. So, there is both a valid reason for thinking so and a practical one at the same time.

From another viewpoint, I can consider someone whose routine did not include porn use for a couple of months an ex-addict (but still in the danger-zone).

    Hope that helps, friend.

I suspect that it is like alcohol, addicts are not cured but can be in remission. So we need to be vigilant, even in a long porn-free streak. That gets easier and easier, but never stop being careful about triggers etc.

  4. What do you understand as porn addiction, or how do you define it?

Most people think about WATCHING porn, what if I told you I have a tendency to MAKE porn? In my mind. Even if I only do it every few days, even if I don't PMO and haven't for 2-6 months, the fact that my mind makes its own obviously says something. It may be brief and not a whole production like the videos, but if it's a recurring thought pattern that's something to look at.

oh, if that counts, then i am still porn addict, like i still fantasize sex sometimes, and if i see a hot girl pic it can trigger me, but i am good with the urge to watch porn..
seems like a long time battle, may even take years...

  6. 30 days of no porn is only the beginning. 2 years of no porn may still trigger a peak. You may look interest in it compare in the beginning but the temptation is till there.

It can indeed take a long time depending on how addicted you are. Set small goals that can be easily defined. For example, 3 months of no PMO at first. Then go bigger.

Try to forget about beating your addiction as it cannot be easily defined as a goal and you don't know when that will happen in your case.

Oh, gosh. Those thoughts took me a long time to fade away. And it's indeed a great way to somewhat define the level of addiction.

From what I experienced, stress is the main trigger. And pmo is the best stress reliever and it has been conditioned so for many years. Undoubtedly it will continue everytime im stress out. But the good news is the longer we abstain and retrain our brain, the scale starts tipping more on the opposite side of pmo.

We all are healed from porn addiction when we don‘t think anymore about porn and masturbation and ask us if we are still addicted and don‘t visit nofap.com frequently.

Soo you and me we are in a good way (I am at day 29 hard mode btw) but we are still far from being completely healed, the reasons why, I wrote in the beginning. Stay strong bro! :emoji_punch:

The thing with any addiction is, it never completely heals; it just gets easier to ignore with time. We've all heard those stories about recovering alcoholics who were clean for 20 or 30 years and thought that it would be no big deal to have one glass of champagne at a wedding, and they ended up practically raiding the bar by the end of the night. Porn addiction is no different. You will always have to remain vigilant, even if you feel like you're cured.

You will stop craving porn and having urges at some point. But it means that you can never use it again because your brain will remember the addiction, and it will start all over again.

  18. What do you think healing even means though? People are familiar with the idea of rewiring but in practice they seem to think the existing wiring can just go away with a lot of time - and don't really do any new wiring.

If the wiring is a question of learning, and people just count days without learning anything, let alone qualify for the amount and depth, then of course you're not going to get very far. But if the existing PA wiring ends up being only 10% because of not only time but you are busy learning (which doesn't just mean stuff read in a book let alone online posts only) then you could potentially develop that 90% so the addiction is much weaker by comparison.

And none of this even qualifies for WHAT you learned. If you learned about the brain, psychology, behavior and addiction don't you think that knowledge by its very nature will help you more than other kinds of knowledge?

I believe that one will always be addicted if one does not maintain vigilance. I tell you because if you ever have a relapse again, you will return to the same point from which you started. I see it as a latent disease, if you take care of it it does not appear; But if you let it appear it will consume you like the first day.
