  2. Your in denial about how harmful porn is. Of course, porn should be regulated. Every other vice is.

I’ll just leave this link here: https://www.affordablefamilylawyer.com/divorce-and-porn-addiction/

Great link. Wether the limits are legal, technological or otherwise, making it more difficult to access sometime will never eliminate it but it can limit effects

We are seeing it in real time with porn moving from something you had to go to stores to buy to being in everyone's pocket all the time.

If porn was banned then I would continue using porn as a law-breaker. The divide between legal porn and illegal porn would disappear after all porn becomes illegal, so I might be tempted to peek at all kinds of sickening porn.

Historians say that Prohibition actually did curtail alcohol use, but it probably didn't help too many alcoholics and it definitely created business opportunities for organized crime.

What if there were real consequences for viewing porn? If you could face jail time if you access online porn, would that dissuade You?

If you would continue to watch porn even if it's banned and keep on watching sickening porn for that matter, then you got issues and you should fix them.

Lmao, you are so clueless. "porn/sex addict are only a small part of internet user". They are all out there and they are millions, they just don't realise it and therefore don't join NoFap.

You don't get that porn is completely harmful. Ejaculation to porn viewing causes the brain to have negative effects from it. You think porn is normal, but it is not at all. It is evil. It causes a lot of problems to people out there, it fucks the brain of all of them. You need to realise that.

Also, there is no moderation to porn viewing. Even if you masturbate to porn 1 time a week, your brain will remember that ejaculation and you will soon want it more than 1 time a week. I repeat, it fucks the brain, porn fucks the brain. Get it in your head.

anything that cause the brain to release dopamine can be addictive and destructive but saying that watching porn once a week fuck up your brain is pure slander, unless you have some study to back up that claim.
agreed only education can help deal with the porn problem.
you can face jail time downloading movies or video games but there are still millions of "pirates" out there, just take a little know how.

True, but if the government was willing to curtail "privacy" and "freedom of speech" they could do a lot more to catch and punish--and therefore deter--piracy.

But that is only money, porn is destroying everything.

  12. So you are saying you cannot stop watching porn, unless the threat of getting shoved into a jail cell stops your hands?

Why can't people take accountability for their own actions, instead of dumping everything on a 3rd party?

That is the whole crux of porn bans, and the reason they will never ban it. While porn may be immoral, it's never criminal (unless you take the R word, but that's a whole different scenario and I wouldn't bring that into it).

Also, seeing how so many of you try to quickly bring personal attacks into play, whenever anyone tells you to be accountable rather than dumping it on someone else, goes to show how shallow rooted and insecure their recovery situation is.

The distinction between immoral and criminal is a decision society and government make. We draw the line on drugs and foods (can't buy raw milk, etc) and, of we wanted to, we could make the laws and give police the power to make porn illegal.

It's not saying we should, but we could.

I’m not going to argue with you all, as arguing with strangers you’ll never meet over the internet is the definition of a waste of time. I’ll just say I’m with @HelperX. Ban porn entirely. Full stop.

Guys, not sure if you realise, but it's actually been done before and with poor results (as obviously expected):

    https://qz.com/1001366/how-the-chinese-watch-porn-on-chinas-censored-internet/

Imagine trying to keep a 1,1 bil. population in check with regard to what they watch or post online...

Also, imagine some perverted female friend of yours unexpectedly sends you a naked picture of herself. Are you going to report her (after deleting the "illegal" image), or what? If you fail to report her, you actually may be violating the law yourself. This is utterly ridiculous and a straight path towards a surveillance state. So don't be damn commies and understand that for true human values to prevail, humans need to be exposed to stimuli that challenge their willpower. You can't really teach anyone to swim properly other than (eventually) throwing him into a pool in which he can indeed drown. It is / will be your personal responsibility to make sure yourself and your children / close family members can swim / do not watch porn. Don't try to be heroes trying to save the entire world from sexual decadence, because the world isn't going to appreciate you or even listen to you if you just shovel legislation in it's face. Just like no kid who really wants to drink a beer has ever been deterred from it by the legal age of purchase.

If we were to impose the ban, then overall usage would probably decrease indeed, BUT it would decrease among the people who never really had a problem with PMO in the first place (unless you claim they DO have a problem - but who the hell are you to say who has a problem with what and who doesn't?). Those true addicts would be even more desperate to cling to their addiction. And as for the risk of early exposure to porn in youth - that's the parent's role to prevent that, not the state's. If the parent is ignorant about his kid's spiritual development, then screw him. The kid's porn addiction will be only one of his many issues anyway.

When will you realise that porn is a heavly addictive stuff that anyone can fall into? Now, solely porn viewing doesn't necessarily cause addiction but It can still create negative effects to the brain. However, masturbation along with porn, oh gosh, that shit is a heavily addicting cocktail. It's masturbation + porn that can deeply fuck up the brain. And 99% of people out there masturbate to porn. The brain when someone masturbates, enters the video, it substitutes the person watching the porn video with the actor in the video and makes that person the main character having sex with the woman in the video, now add that to the millions of different women one person can see in millions of videos, It just brings more dopamine. Dude, it's literally destructive. Many youngies fall into this trap and as a result, their developing brain get changed. There are millions of people who keep watching porn everyday or every week and they don't want to stop because they are hooked to It.
This evil needs to be eradicated. Only a total ban can destroy porn from the internet. There will maybe be ppl who will keep watching porn videos illegally but those are depraved people who really got issues. The kids will be safe and also the adults.

Just like smoking tobacco. And so what? Also, it has numerous potentially fatal consequences, much greater than PMO IMHO. And yet, no sane person is banning the distribution of tobacco products. BTW. I never had a cigarette in my mouth and it disgusts me. Still, I wouldn't advocate for banning it.

You're dramatizing the issue a little. Look around in the streets. The statistics say that a ridiculous majority of males under 50 watch porn - and I believe them. High bandwidth porn's been here for over 20 years now. Does everyone look like depraved zombies incapable of leading a normal life, or rather like normal people who maybe have an issue or two (low energy, ED, time waste) and decided to register on NoFap (95% of users I believe, with the other 5% being serious cases of complete masturbatory nolives).

Today's "porn society" worries me a lot too and I have always been critical of any signs of promiscuity, be it wanking to porn or sleeping around. But let's not make a "public health issue" out of it. I don't believe in "public health" in general, by the way. Everyone should care for his own and his family's health. It's the same reason I say "fuck you" to public healthcare.

Also, if my neigbhour's kids turn into depraved porn zombies incapable of leading a normal life, running families and developing their career, then so what? My well-raised kids will win over them in the long term and buy their house out. It's called social darwinism and it makes much more sense than egalitarianism, nanny states and ongoing public surveillance aka totalitarianism.

The biggest trap is staying inside by yourself. Get outside, go for a walk, run, bike ride…whatever. Just get moving and thinking about other things.

It's not the porn, my friend. Just like it's not the booze, the cigarettes, the gambling, the food.

It's you! When you take responsibility, things radically transform.

    "My life."
    "My decisions."
"I'm in charge - not whatever it is I allow to rule and ruin my life."

They tried to restrict porn for almost 100 years. It was a crime to send erotic books, magazines or postcards through the mail. People were charged with "obscenity." It didn't work. Neither did prohibition (1919-1933.) Neither did criminalizing homosexuality or marriage between two people not of the same race.

Just informing! Cheers and good luck to ye. You have it rough because you're so young, and, biologically, your body wants to make a baby. I feel ya........
