I've been trying to NoFap now for well over 2 years the longest streak was 4 days. It's not getting any easier . So I think I need to rethink the whole thing . Instead of saying no more and just ride my with it until failing again over and over just isn't working .

The concept of once a month gives a closer goal in site a definitive target a block of 30 days to put everything into . And then once a month releasing all the pent up energy and starting over potentially over time every 2 months . Hell if wet dreams start happening I myt try and not at all.

Anyone tried this found it successful
3 years 4 days tops definitely need to change it up

If I do it once a month, THEN I will waste 10 days recovering my body. The SYMPTOMS of POIS, I tend to last 10 days, such as brain fog, social phobia, powerlessness, etc., so I only have 20 normal days a month. I don't do it once a month. Just how I feel

    lol no, obvious cope.

you need to change the way you look at porn in order to truly quit it. i look at for what it is, disgusting and degenerate. i dont want to be a disgusting degenerate. it's easy as that.

Siendo realistas no es tan fácil, cuando ya uno cayó en algún aspecto de adicción ....pero cada día es una nueva oportunidad, las cosas pueden mejorar...

How will you achieve this once a month when you haven't got past 4 days? You have this idea about what you want to do but personally I don't think it's possible with what you are already dealing with.

Sure make a goal of thirty days.

But it makes no sense whatever to then blow your progress with a relapse. Once you have achieved thirty days, then do another and another and lo and behold you will have done 90 days without damaging your recovery with relapses. Okay?

I don't know man, 2 years with a 4 day streak...I'd say your goal needs to be 5 days. If you put your heart and soul into achieving 5 days then that's going to be a mental boost in that you've achieved your longest streak to date. On that 5th day, you have two options - same as always.

Best case scenario on those numbers is that you've PMed 182 times in the past 2 years. Do they fall into categories? What causes you to cave on that 4th day? Do you spend a lot of time working with a computer, or is the phone the weakness? You've probably already heard all this dozens of times, but it's identifying the triggers and recognising them for what they are, and breaking the cycle. You might feel like shit on the 4th day, and the day after, and the day after - but it's not going to kill you, and you will feel better when you come out the other side.

    Two things to say/ask:

    1. If you relapse every time after 4 days, you should be able to expect when you will relapse, make a plan to be in a situation where you cannot PMO, and then get passed 4 days. When I first started rebooting I knew days 7-14 were extremely hard for me and I failed the first few times. To counteract this, I made a bullshit excuse to sleep on the floor of a friends room every night, and then spent the rest of the day at my school. I had no access to porn or a place to MO for 24 hours straight for 7 days, and used it to get over that hump. Is that plan sustainable? Absolutely not, but it worked for 7 days, and that's all I needed it to. I encourage you to do the same.

    2. Allowing yourself to PMO at any interval is like thinking "Ok I know this poison is bad for me, so I'll only drink it X times a month". It's completely illogical. It's bad enough to be using porn at all, but studies show that allowing oneself to indulge sporadically can either lead to habituation (you feel the need to use porn more frequently or more extreme porn) and binge behaviors, which are thought to be worse by some porn addiction researchers. I encourage you to read more about this on YBOP thought the links below.

Exactly this. "Once in a while" doesn't work for an addict because as soon as you have an orgasm, it will send your brain back into the PAWS and POIS abyss. The only way to successfully reboot is completely abstaining from orgasms and letting your brain heal from the PAWS and POIS. You have to keep in mind that we have all inflicted a lot of damage upon ourselves over the years, and every time we relapse, it just compounds the damage.

I know that there are a lot of people out there who don't want to hear this, but full abstinence is the only way that you can reset your brain back to its default state. And once your brain has been restored to its default pre-addiction state, then you can resume having healthy orgasms* again without suffering POIS symptoms.

*What I mean by "healthy orgasms" is any orgasm achieved WITHOUT the use of porn.

Abstaining for all but one day a month is akin to abstaining for 28/29/30 days. I would be inclined to believe that you would find that harder than you are imagining if you’re caving after four days to date.

Moreover, I would be weary of any thoughts that take the form of ‘just a little’ or ‘just every know and then’. Someone who wants to quick drinking cannot permit themselves a drink once a month. I think it’s best to view it in the same vain.

    Take it day by day.

I use to do something similar except it was for 7 days. I reason was I felt at day 7 it was enough for me to feel a higher than normal power, strength and endurance which I needed to complete with my chosen sport. I felt I played better doing this normally and I had a reward at the end after 7 days. I would like to extend this to 14 day though. Of course I'm a struggler as well with my record being 28 day done 10 years ago, since doing this forum 2.5 years ago from memory record is 16 days. If I was you I'd aim for a once every week then build up to fortnightly then 30 days. I'm no expert on how people get over there addiction here however I find it very hard to believe that they instantly joined this forum and became P free. Some struggle was definitely had. I'm going to try and build back slowly like you are except I believe every 7 days is a good starting block for me.
